III. Installation of software
Read the corresponding User Manual (REF 16930/1) and Service Manual (REF 16930/2).

These instructions explain how to install the HumaStar 300SR Hi User software, on a computer that has
a previous version of the Hi User software already installed.

 To install a new software on an existing installation follow sections A and B.

Always stop your instrument before doing any updates or installations.

To install the software on a computer without a previous installation of the software, settings, etc.,
download the complete “Installation package” (includes instructions how to setup the computer,
install settings, languages, etc.).

A. Backup

A1. For existing installations, make a backup of your system as described in the section “SYSTRAY
TOOL” of the User Manual (REF 16930/1).

B. Installation of the software

B1. Uninstall previous versions of the software

Before proceeding it is necessary to check that no previous versions of the Hi software are
installed in the system.

a. In order to check this, go to the “Control Panel”.

b. Access the “Program and Features” section. Wait for list of programs to be loaded
completely.

c. Check if the “Hi setup” software is present in the list. If this is the case, select the “Hi
setup” line and press the “Uninstall” button (see picture).

d. Confirm by pressing again the “Uninstall” button in the “Modify setup” window. Wait
for the procedure to be finished and close the window.

 B2. Install the new software

a. Open the USB card

b. Open the software folder, e.g. “Hi Software 1.0.1.43.4” and run “HiSetup.exe”.

 c. Accept End-User license agreement by checking the box and clicking “Install”.

d. Confirm that the installation should continue by accepting the Windows “User account
control” message, if this dialogue is shown.

e. The following window will be shown during installation.

 f. Confirm installation of FTDI CDM Drivers by clicking “Extract”

g. Click “Next”

 h. Accept License Agreement by checking the box and clicking “Next”

i. Click “Finish”

 j. When installation is finished correctly, the following window will be shown. Click
“Close” to finish. Or click “Restart” if requested to restart the computer.

k. There are two new icons on your desktop. “HI v1.0” is the Hi User Software. “Systray”
is the Systray Tool (see User Manual REF 16930/1 for details).
