SURYA SIDDHANTA [SUN THEORY]

COSMOGRAHICAL ANALYSIS - THE BASIS FOR ASTROLOGY.

Dr.Bhawaan Tatavarthy and Pandit. Ramanadha Sastry Lanka.

ABSTRACT

With my past conferences educated me to do Research on a typical Subject SURYA SIDHANTHA.

Pandit L.R.Sastry’s also joined with me, given a lot of encouragement to prepare the subject. It
takes us to study and prepare the subject more than a year to our satisfaction.

Before starting the subject, we studied varies mythologies in the creation of the Universe in the
world.
In this context we studied various aspects in Indian Vedic culture.

Sun is the source for creation of this universe therefore, we dared to take up this subject, for the
benefit of mankind, making it a précised edition, as the Subject is available in multiple volumes.

SURYA SIDHANTHA, is classified as Sidhantha Bhaga[Part] and Ganita Bhaga [Mathematical

Part]. We put our effort to establish Sidhantha Bhaga to our Learned Researcher’s to do some
more Research work.

We both believes that this great work done under the Grace and blessings of SUN GOD who
himself taught the subject.

INTRODUCTION- International conferences and ‘Gatherings for elders’[ICCS} were conducte

under leadership of Dr. Yashwanth V Pathak worldwide who now stationed at Florida, Dr.
Bhawaan Tatavarthy took the opportunity in attending the same at Nagpur, Jaipur and Haridwar
in India and presented his paper. Globally, about 20 to 40 persons represented from each country
of the conference and those participants performed prayers about Sun and worshipped too, in
their own pattern. It was really astonishing to learn their commitment and preference to Sun god.

A conference held at Dev Sanskrit Viswavidyalaya, Haridwar in March 2012, under the able
guidance of Dr.S.D.Sharma, Vice-chancellor and Dr. Chinmaya Pandya, pro vice-chancellor and Dr.
Yaswant V.Pathak of Florida and Prof. Radheshyam Dwevedi, of Washington and others. On the
theme, “Nourishing the balance of the Universe”, a good number of articles/papers presented by
intellectuals attended it. The great soul, pandit Shrirama Sharma Acharyaji, Angelic Visionary of
the new era of truth, who introduced “Om mantra and Gayatri mantra” is being chanted daily by
the pupils from High school level to University level, even now.

We both concentrate on the said subject in depth of the Indian Religion to the benefit of our
RESEARCH Gate group of persons.

In the world, various mythologies varied about creation of UNIVERSE.

Bible says that “in the beginning God created the HEAVEN AND THE EARTH “. Day 1 to 7 , God
separate day from night(light from darkness),makes sky space waters, divide the material earth
and sea, CREATE SUN AND MOON AND STARS, CREATE CREATURES IN WATER AND AIR, create
man to supervise the animals birds and god rests respectively. In this account God’s world sounds
perfect, but it is not so, due to Adam and Eve eating the fruit of a tree.

According to China, the most striking is that of P’an ku hatched from cosmic egg. Half of shell
above him as the sky, the other half below him as the earth, who grows taller each day for 18000
years, subsequently falls to pieces, his limbs, blood, breath, voice eyes and body become
mountains, rivers, wind and the thunder, sun and moon, and mankind respectively.

In Greece it begins with a gapping emptiness, Chos, Gaea the earth. Gaea gives birth to Uranus,
who is the sky. Gaea produces the Titans, Cyclops and Cronus. Cronus has six children with sister
Rhea and eats them as soon as they born. To save her next child, Rhea wraps a stone in cloths,
which he swallows too, like that the child saved. He is Zeus, the original god, ruler of the sky.

In Japan it begins with similar slithery subsistence of an egg, like a jelly fish. It produces eight
generations of brother and sister gods. The eighth pair of gods are Izanagi and Izanami. The liquid
begins to curdle and forms an Island. They together create more islands and gods. The gods
establish day and night, summer and winters. Eventually, the sun goddess sends her grandson,
Ninigi to rule the Central Land or Reed plains.

In Scandinavia that the Germanic legends are eventually recorded the Norse gods. In the
beginning there is nothingness, gradually this space fills with water, which freezes and melts.
From the drops of melting water, a giant in human form emerges called Ymir. From his arm a man
and woman appear who are capable of producing others. Meanwhile a cow has licked the melting
ice and revealed another giant, from whom god Odin descends. Odin and his brothers kill the aged
Ymir. From his flesh, skull, blood, bones and hair, make the earth, heaven, sea, mountains and
trees respectively. Odin builds dwell in and linked to earth by the bridge of the rainbow. On earth
itself Odin and his colleagues breathe life into two tree trunks, turning them into Ask and Embia,
the first man and women.

In Egypt begins with Nun, the ocean from which Amen rises, he takes the name of Re, and
produces divine son and daughter. These two breed a race of gods, while the tears of Amen
become mankind. He retires to the heavens, where he reigns as the sun.

In Mesopotamia it begins with two watery beings, one male and one female, Apsu and Tiamat.A
variety of sea monsters and gods come from their union. The female creator, Tiamat tries to take
control. Her descendants unite against her choosing Marduk, the god of Babylon to lead them.
Marduk meets Tiamat and her evil accomplice Kingu in battle and kills them both. He splits Tiamat
into two which creates heaven and earth. He uses the blood of Kingu to create the first man, who
create rivers, plants and animals.

In India in an earlier version, Purusha is a primal man is the creator. The sky, earth, sun, moon, the
birds and animals come from head, feet, Eye, mind and fat respectively. The four castes derive
from his body.

A much later version involves the god Brahma. Beginning from nothing, first he creates the water
by thought and deposits his seeds, which grows into a golden egg. He himself is born in the egg.
He splits the egg into two, heaven and earth.

There are four Vedas (Rig, Sama, Adharvana and Yajur) and there are 108 Upanishads in those
four Vedas. One of the hymns in the Rigveda speculates on various cosmic forces which might
have fashioned the universe,
“After all, who knows, and who can say whence it all came, and how creation happens”.

Accordingly, to Hindu mythology basic Trinity of Brahma Vishnu and Siva, is well known around
the earth. Vishnu is the self-existent, all pervading POWER that preserves the Universe and
maintains the cosmic order Dharma.

Lord Vishnu having dark blue complexion being called as Neelameghashyam (vide padma purana).
Vishnu, often resting on the endless serpent - Aadiseshu, with consort Lakshmi (wife) massing his
feet.

Vishnu with four attributes or weapons in four hands, namely conch or sanku, disc or chakra, club
or gada, and lotus or padma. Vishnu is seen riding on his carrier bird “Garuda”, the King of birds.

Vishnu has ten incarnations(avatars) namely (Matsya or fish, Kurma or turtle, Varaha or boar,
Narasimha or lion, Vamana or dwarf, Parasurama-killer of kings, Rama-killer of demon Ravana,
Krishna-killer of Kamsa and the main cause of Mahabharat, Buddha who established Buddhisim
and Kalki-still to come at the end of Kaliyuga or present age of decline.

The said avatars are just to maintain the balance of good and evil forces, when evil demons get
upper hand. According to Vedic forefathers, Vishnu is the ideal leader among all Hindu Gods, who
creates, destroys and balance harmony.

Lord Vishnu’s 1st Avatar is Mastya or fish, which lives in water, 2nd Avatar is Kurma or tortle, 3rd
Avatar is Varaha or boar lives on earth, 4th Avatar Narasimha is half man and half the roring lion,
5th Avatar Vamana, a short man who occupied sky and earth with his both feet’s, 6th to 9th Avatars
are human having many powers. These Avataras appears to be parallel to the Darwin’s theory.

Brahma is born from a lotus or kamala springing from Vishnu’s navel and created the world
through Saraswati (spouse). Brahma has four heads (chaturmukha Brahma), originally having five
heads, one of them being cut by Shiva another Lord.

Cosmologically Brahma is Hiranyagarbha, the ball of fire, from which the Universe develops.

Sivalinga, the symbol of Lord Siva, in Sanskrit, linga means a mark or a symbol, which points to an
inference, it reminds of the omnipotent Lord, which is form less. The foremost Linga is devoid of
smell, colour, taste etc., and is spoken as Nature or Prakruti . The Linga like an egg, represents the
Brahmanda or the cosmic egg. Linga signifies that the creation is effected by the union of Prakriti
and Pursha, the female and male powers of nature. The three parts of Sivalinga, the lowest,
middle and uppermost are called Brahma-pitha, Vishnu-pitha and Siva-pitha respectively.

Shiva and his spouse Parvathi are representing Shakti, the power. Shiva is not only the creator and
also the destroyer, having “third eye” which destroys everything, if opens so.

Siva means auspicious. Shiva manifests the universal energy. Baanalinga is egg shaped and is
meant to show that Ishvara or Siva has neither beginning nor end.

Shiva in addition of Rudra have names like Bhuva, Sarva, Ishana, Pasupati, Bhima, Ugra and
Mahadeva. In these eight different forms, Shiva is to live in the Sun, water, sky, fire, wind, trees,
bodies of Brahmanas and the Moon,

Shiva himself created Sun, Saturn, yama etc., and destroys many by opening his third eye. Both
Siva and Parvathi are considered as parents of the Universe.
Lord Vishnu himself answered the doubts expressed by certain sages:

Brahma said to be emerged from Vishnu’s body and also said that Brahma is born inside a golden
egg. Shiva said to be born from Brahma’s tears,

At the time of original creation Brahma was born from golden egg. But at the end of every Kalpa,
there is distraction, all living beings die except Brahma, Vishnu, Siva. At the end of last Kalpa,
there was water everywhere in the Universe, heaven, earth and the underworld. Only the great
Vishnu slept on the waters on the hoods of endless snake Aadiseshu. Hence, Vishnu is the origin
of everything.

However, it was said that Vishnu and Siva is one and the same, existing in two different shapes.
Siva is neutron and Vishnu is electron, in the other words.

Surya is a Vedic God who is the chief solar diety, the son of Kasyapa and Aditi. Surya married
Sandhya or Sanjana, daughter of Vishwakarma. Surya is a very powerful God and his omnipresent
glow was the cause of his wife’s escape. However, Surya found her in the woods and made love
with her there. Surya has several sons.

Sun is the leader of planets namely Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn and the two
shadow planets called Rahu and Ketu (Navagrahas or nine planets]. The tenth planet is not in the
Indian theory.

As per Astrology Sun the king, Moon the queen, Jupiter the minister, Mars the warrior, Saturn the
servant, Mercury the merchant, Vinus the opponent to Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu are nodes and
malefic in nature.

There are 18 Puranas namely Brahma, Padma. Vishnu, Vayaviya, Bhagavata, Naradiya,
Markendeya, Agni, Bhavishya, Brahma-Vaivartha, Linga, Varaha, Skanda, Vamana, Kurma,
Mastya, Garuda, Brahmanda, Upa, Kalika.

There are eighteen ancient SIDDHANTHAS namely Surya, Brahma, Vyasa, Vasishtha, Atri,
Parasara, Kasyapa, Narada, Garga, Marichi, Manu, Angiras, Lomasa, Pulisa, Chyvana, yavana,
Bhrugu and Saunaka or Soma.

Only Surya, Brahma, Soma are within the reach, rest are very rare to procure. Surya siddhantha is
more than 21.65 lakhs of years old, being the oldest of its kind.

Surya siddhantha is said to be the oldest of eighteen ancient astronomical works.

Akshi Upanishad contains prayer of sage Sankruthi to lord Surya which contains the
Chakshushmathi mantra.

Mahavakyopanishad confirms the knowledge “that this Sun is Brahma” would be realized by
chanting of Ajapa Gayathri, explains the merger of mind with Brhama.

Salutation to that Supreme Being.

The external source of wisdom and happiness, and the supporter of the whole world in the shapes
of “Brahma Vishnu and Siva”.
In Kritayuga, a great demon named “Maya” desirous of obtaining complete knowledge of
astronomy, which is the best of the six sciences subordinate to the Veda, worship the Sun.

The self delightful Sun, bestowed on him the knowledge of the science of astronomy and the
illustrious Sun said as follows:
