HEC Scholarships

 Scholarships for Austria:

HEC had signed an agreement on 08-Oct-2003 with Austrian agency for international
mobility and cooperation in education, science and research (OeAD) which was afterward
renewed in November-2016. Under the agreement, responsibility of OEAD is to select, place
and monitor the Pakistani PhD scholars.
Universities and Subjects:
Scholars can get admission in any Government sector university of Austria where language
of Education and instruction is English. Furthermore, scholarships are awarded in all fields of
knowledge with condition that suitable PhD Supervisor is available.
Selection Criteria:
Candidates on merit are invited for interviews. A team of Austrian Professors and
supervisors visit Pakistan and conduct face to face interviews of only those candidates who
have Acceptance Le.er of Suitable Supervisor. HEC asks successful candidates in interviews
to complete necessary documentation like, verification of degrees, legal bonds, study leave,
admission etc.
Financial Details:
As per agreement scholars are being paid Euro 1,000/- per month on account of
Maintenance allowance, Admin Fee to OEAD to look after HEC scholar’s Euro 1,250/per
year/scholar.

 HEC Scholarships for China:

HEC has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The China Scholarship Council
(CSC) on 2012 for the award of PhD scholarships to Pakistani students wishing to enroll at
CSC.
Financial Details:
HEC scholarship will cover Tuition fees, Living Allowance, Return air fare, Administration fee
and miscellaneous costs.
Subject Criteria:
Scholarships are being offered in all areas of knowledge. Shortlisted candidates are required
to secure PhD admission in one of QS ranked top 25 Chinese University.
How to Apply:
HEC PhD Scholarships in partnership with CSC are being offered under various HEC Overseas
Scholarships Schemes. Interested candidates are required to regularly visit HEC web site for
the details of advertised overseas scholarships and apply for scholarship subject to meeting
the advertised criteria. Interested candidates would be required to secure PhD admission
from CSC by meeting the university standards and requirements.
 Scholarship for New Zealand:

Higher Education Commission has signed MoU's/ DoU's with 3 renowned universities of
New Zealand for cooperation in Education and Research.
Selection Criteria:
Candidates on merit are invited for interviews. A team of New Zealand Professors and
supervisors visit Pakistan and conduct face to face interviews of only those candidates who
have Acceptance Le.er of Suitable Supervisor. Then HEC asks successful candidates to
complete necessary documentation like, verification of degrees, legal bonds, study leave,
admission etc.

various HEC Overseas Scholarships Schemes. Interested candidates are required to regularly
visit HEC website for the details of advertised overseas scholarships and apply for
scholarship subject to meeting the advertised criteria.

 Scholarships for Sweden:

HEC had signed Document of Understanding (DoU) with Swedish Institute (SI) Sweden for
the award of PhD scholarships to Pakistani students wishing to enroll at Universities of
Sweden.
Financial Details:
HEC scholarship will cover Tuition Fee, maintenance allowance, and return air fare.
Subject Criteria:
The scholarships will be available in all fields of study & disciplines.
How to Apply:
HEC PhD Scholarships in partnership with Sweden are being offered under various HEC
Overseas Scholarships Schemes. Interested candidates are required to regularly visit HEC
web site for the details of advertised overseas scholarships and apply for scholarship subject
to meeting the advertised criteria. Interested candidates would be required PhD acceptance
letter from universities of Sweden.

 Scholarships for SOUTH KOREA:

Higher Education Commission has signed MoU's/ DoU's with 3 renowned universities of
South Korea for cooperation in Education and Research. DoU was signed with Hanyang
University on February 25, 2008, Yonsei University and with Seoul Na onal University on
November 02, 2007. Scholarships are being awarded in all fields of knowledge with
condition on that suitable PhD Supervisor is available.
Financial Details:
HEC scholarship will cover Tuition on Fee, Maintenance Allowance, Admin Fee, and return
air fare.The scholarships will be available for PhD study in all fields.

Overseas Scholarships Schemes. Interested candidates are required to regularly visit HEC
web site for the details of adverse overseas scholarships and apply for scholarship subject to
meeting the adverse criteria. Interested candidates would be required PhD acceptance
letter from Universities of South Korea.
