TITLE: Technology Engagement: Ways to Respond to the New normal

SPEAKER: Judy “Jude” C. Bautista Ph. D.
DATE: May 15, 2020

Even prior to the Covid-19 disruption, many types of work were moving online. Millions
of individuals globally are working from home. Because of this webinar session I gained a new
learning about how are we going to prepare ourselves in the new normal through technology.
As a teacher it is difficult for us to teach our students through online session as well as the
learning of the students, because not all the learners had a complete access in online world.
This session talks about the SAMR Model for Technology Integration it is a big help for
me as a teacher because it offers a method of seeing how computer technology might impact
teaching and learning. It also shows a progression that adopters of educational technology often
follow as they progress through teaching and learning with technology. These are the levels of
SAMR Model the first one is Substitution, technology acts as a direct tool substitute with no
functional change. Second, Augmentation, technology acts as a direct tool substitute, with
functional improvement. Third, Modification, technology allows for significant task redesign
and last is the Redefinition, technology allows for the creation of new tasks, previously
inconceivable. These are my learning throughout the session.

TITLE: Making Learning Happen during COVID-19 Emergency

SPEAKER: Diosdado M. San Antonio
DATE: May 22, 2020

The first question that comes into my mind is how are we going to make learning happen
during Covid-19 Emergency. So throughout this webinar session, my question in my mind has
been provided an informative and clear answer by Usec. Diosdado M. San Antonio.
It talks about the different ways on how are we going to make learning possible during
this Pandemic Covid-19. First of all, we need to make sure that we are physically healthy as an
individual to prevent the further transmission of Covid-19 because as a teacher we also think
and care about the safety of our learners. Second one, we all know that there is a lot of
adjustment in the curriculum and in the alignment of learning materials but it doesn’t mean that
we are not going to continue learning as a teacher we must assure that the learning of the
students is continuously happen. I also learned in this session about the learning delivery
modalities. Learning experiences can differ greatly in how they are delivered and are typically
broken in to the time and location where learners meet. The face-to-face courses, typically held
in a classroom, and allow for real-time collaborative activities in a shared physical space, but in
our case nowadays distance learning can be conducted. When we say distance learning or
online learning this courses happen fully online in which learners never meet each other face to
face. This allows for maximum flexibility in learning in different locations, but it also presents
some challenges with regards to building learning community. Due to a lack of face to face
time, the learning platform is the only opportunity for learners to get to know each other and
work together, so the facilitating and organic building of learning communities must be set up
more intentionally. Next is the blended learning, it is generally refers to a course in which face-
to-face class time is substituted by online learning activities, but the advantage of this course is
that the necessary community building that facilitates group work and collaboration can happen
in a face to face environment, which us much more conducive to allowing learners to get to
know each other on a personal level. Last is the homeschooling, also known as home education,
is the education of children at home or a variety of places other than school. It is usually
conducted by a parent, tutor or an online teacher.
So continuing education through alternative learning pathways, as soon as possible, must
also be a top priority right now, to ensure the interruption to education is as limited as possible.

TITLE: Back to Normal: Post-Pandemic Realignment of Learners’ Predisposition to

Learning
SPEAKER: Kenneth Ray V. Aranas, RPm
DATE: May 21, 2020

This webinar session talks about our current situation. The current states of health have
put the world in a difficult position. Covid-19 has not only affect the health sector, but almost
every other area of life, including education. I gained more learning about the adjustment to the
current educational system.
We have the online learning, many educational institutions have shifted to an online
learning platform to meet the demands of the current situation. This may have been seen as a
“band aid solution” for some, but other may claim this should have been done ever since. Next
is placing a higher premium on technology, now more than ever, access to smartphones, tablets,
laptops, and most importantly, stable internet has become a priority for many due to the shift to
online learning. Next is dealing with student’s mental health, many students are facing mental
health challenges and will continue to do so even after the current pandemic. Anxiety,
depression, suicidal ideation is just some of the problems students are currently facing. So as a
teacher and as role model to our students we should taking care of our mental health because it
is one of our top priority.
In this session Mr. Kenneth Ray Aranas give some tips on how to deal with our mental
health. The first one is empathize as a teacher we need to understand or feel what our students
experiencing. Second is listen, as teacher we are not the only one who need to speak every day
to our students we must listen too or hear what in their minds. Third, support, sometimes you be
the most important person for a student in need as a teacher. Last one is the learner motivation,
as a teacher we are only going to teach every day for our students, we also need to be a
motivator for them to strive hard in life and to study hard.
