Report on the disinfection of household shallow well

On the 18 of February 2019 we made a follow up due to the complaints given by the
residents on house number 2169 Atheleny road Ruwa about a well which was affected by
worms
As the environmental health practitioner we observed the water on arrival. No noticeable
worms were seen but we disinfected the well. Hth was used for the disinfection.

After disinfection we advised the residents not to use the water for at least 1 hour to allow
the chemical to dissolve and disinfect the well.

Health education was also done to the residents. We advised them on ways they should
disinfect the water they use at home even the water from local boreholes which they use.
We advised them to always have chlorine using recommended measurements on the
container for example jik.

All this effort is being done to prevent worm infestation which might affect other wells
nearby and also affect the people by causing diseases that might affect the resident of Ruwa
and also making sure the people have safe and protected water.
