PROJECT PROPOSAL

I.THE PROBLEM

Clean water is essential for every human being, for drinking, cooking and other daily uses purposes like
bathing, brushing, washing clothes etc. It not just make our life healthier but also fulfills the hygiene
purpose.

The regular tap water being supplied in your home might seem clear but possess various sorts of health-
affecting bacteria and viruses such as fluorine compounds, chlorine, mercury, lead, pesticides and other
types of waste particles.

And its consumption can lead to serious health issues, and sometimes the result can be massively
harmful.

II.BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM

As per the research contaminated water lead the diseases like- diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid,
and polio, and is estimated to cause 502 000 diarrhea deaths each year.

Water is a limited resource which is chemically treated to obviate various types of harmful viruses or
bacteria available in it, that makes approx.1.1 million ill each year (according to the research) and this is
the core reason why water purification is necessary. Since your family’s health is in your hand, you must
be very careful with the kind of water they are consuming for their day to day uses.

III.RATIONALE

The aim of this is to provide clean drinking water, removing undesirable chemicals, biological
contaminants, suspended solids, and gases from water. It also aims to meet the needs of medical,
pharmacological, chemical, and industrial applications for clean and potable water. It has been a bad
phenomenon that the Filipino people suffered from drinking tap water.
IV.THE PROPOSED PRODUCT

This is the water purifier made from sand, pebble, charcoal and plastic bottle. The reason why sand,
pebble and charcoal makes such a great material for water filters is that it is natural and effective at
removing many toxins from the water, such as volatile organic compounds and chlorine, without the use
of chemicals or stripping the water of salts and minerals.

I.THE PROBLEM

Pollution in our waterways is not only dangerous and unsanitary for humans but it also affects wildlife.

Clogged drainage ditch is one of the problems that can affect the human health of the entire
community. In areas where drainage are poor, water runs over the ground during rainstorms, picks up
faeces and contaminates water sources. This contributes significantly to the spread of diseases.

II.BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM

When the drainage ditch get blocked, water and wastage accumulates within the culvert. This
accumulation of stagnant water and sewage produces unpleasant smells. The smell ends up affecting
the entire place. In fact, it can also cause headaches and nausea to the people living near the place.
Moreover, clogs make the culvert dry out as they block the water flow. In this situation, the smell caused
by waste is not soaked up by the moisture and water flow.

The longer you keep blocked drainage ditch unattended, the higher the chances of water getting
contaminated. This is because other wastage also passes through these culvert. If the culvert gets
blocked due to wastage, the water doesn’t pass through and flows backwards. This water is more dirty
and contaminated than before, which can spread various diseases among you and your entire
community.

III.RATIONALE

The aim of this is preventing garbage transported by rain waters from contaminating the town's local
water reserve. This will also prevent the bad smell that the clogged drainage will make. This will help to
prevent the creation of diseases coming from polluted drainage.
IV. THE PROPOSED PRODUCT

A sack-like net will be placed in the ditch holes in order to collect garbages before it enters the culvert.
With the help of these sack-like nets the garbages from the ditch will be removed easily and it will
prevent the ditch to be blocked. When the drainage ditch is not blocked the water will flow smoothly
and will prevent bad smell and contamination of water.
