DEVELOPMENT & ITS OPPURTUNITY COST

Our environment is a boon which we are blest with. What we see around ourselves is
‘environment’. Containing life in the form of flora and fauna and sustaining it for years would
not have been possible without a supportive environment. But now, our environment is ailing;
why? Aren’t we behind it? In the wake of development, we are constantly destroying our
pristine environment which always provided us with food to eat, air to breathe and water to
drink. For the economic development we cannot afford any injury to our environment. The
term ‘development’ also includes ‘sustainable development’. Only that development persists
which is alongside the environment and not by staking it. The human development is not
complete unless it has place for environmental considerations; otherwise its opportunity very
high.
