How does the belief in Akhirah affects the human life?

As said in surah Al-Muttafafifin verse 6.

“Every deeds of humans in the dunya will be counted and if they follow the truth, they will escape
hellfire and enter paradise. Unfortunately for the sinners, they will be thrown into hell. The Mizan
ul haqq or balance of truth will be used to measure all good and bad things did by humans.”.
As to the ability of Allah to bring about resurrection, the Qur'anic argument is, if He is able to create not
only human beings but the whole universe in the first place why should it be difficult for Him to
recreate them? (Surah Ya Sin 36: 79; Surah al-Ahqaf 46: 33).
Al Akhirah in the Quran has been also named as Yawm al qiyamah (day of resurrection). The other name
of Al Akhirah is Yawm Al Jam. Yawm Al –Jam means the day of assembly. On this day, all the dead
bodies that have been brought back will be assembled in one place that is Mahsyar. Al Akhirah also
known as Yawm Ad Din which is mean the day of judgement. Yawm Al Hisab is another name of
akhirah which means the day of reckoning. This day every person will be called to account for their
actions during life and then will they enter heaven or hell. On the Day of Judgment, everyone will be
rewarded or punished according to his deeds.

Akhirah is such an important belief to Muslims. It affects their lives. Its effects on man’s life are as
follows:

A person with such a belief will show patience against all troubles, will try to overcome the barriers and
misfortunes he faces with enthusiasm and hope.

“Belief in Allah and the hereafter, the land of eternity, is the greatest assistant in renewing people’s
hopes, relieving their pains and coping with the difficulties they face.”

Belief in the hereafter makes man have two nice attributes:

1. To thank Allah for the bounties He has given during the time of welfare.
2. To show patience and not to rebel against Allah during the time of shortage and famine.

Belief in Allah and the hereafter leads man to do good deeds and charities, to avoid evil and bad deeds, to
be equipped with high ethics and merits, to fear Allah and to obey the divine criteria imposed by Him in
anything he does.

A person with such a belief will never abandon honesty. He behaves honestly toward himself, his family,
his environment, his country and nation and humanity. He accepts it a principle to show love and
compassion to them, to be useful for them and to serve them.

He never abandons justice; he never oppresses anyone. If he wants to be rich, he will never do something
bad or deceive anyone. He spends his money and property on good and useful things. He knows his rights
and respects the rights of others. He takes pleasure in helping the poor. He wants for his believing
brothers what he wants for himself because he definitely believes in the hereafter, the day of reward and
punishment and knows that what is done in this world will be accounted for in the hereafter; he bases his
acts on this principle. That principle is an important factor that arranges the lives of individuals and the
society, and ensures peace . He sees his life on earth as a test from Allah, and obviously want to be
rewarded in the afterlife, so this may make him think about his beliefs, actions and behavior.

1
He believes that his thoughts, actions and deeds are being watched by Allah and recorded by the
angels, so it will make him think more carefully about his actions. He believes that on the Day of
Judgment, the comprehensive record of each individual shall be placed in front of him.

So, he will try to please Allah by performing sacred duties, reading the Quraan, following
Shari’ah law, caring for those around them, being honest and faithful and working hard.

To conclude, Life on earth is a period of trial or test or examination, the result of which will be reaped in
the Hereafter. So, we have to work hard on this world to save ourselves on the day of resurrection. Belief
in Al-akhirah is also one principle in Islam, means if neglect it we are lost from the right path in dunya.
