Fibonacci in Nature

As an introduction to this essay, the Fibonacci Sequence was created by Leonardo

Pisano. He was born. In Pisa ( 1170) and died also in Pisa in 1240. According to the

eniscoula.net, it was stated that Fibonacci first derived the Fibonacci sequence along with

his manuscript, the Liber Abaci. The Fibonacci sequence or also know as the golden ratio

and it has been famous for being the sequence that symbolizes the perfection in anything,

especially if these perfection is being referred to the nature. The Fibonacci sequence can

be symbolized as this symbol φ or know as the Phi. This sequence can be seen most

especially in nature and the best example of this is the shell of a snail. Aside from the

shell of the snail, there are a lot of other things in nature where the Fibonacci sequence

can be found and evidently show that this sequence is perfection

If an object follows the sequence, it was said that this object is beautiful. Now,

let's talk about flowers, imagine seeing a flower with absolutely no petals. That would be

a very sad imagery since it would look, aside from being ugly and uncared for, it would

look incomplete in anyway. But if the flower satisfy the Fibonacci sequence, then it

would become a would make a different story and imagery for the flower. Let's say, we

give the flower 3 petals, now we can see a cute and humble flower but still it feel so right

and perfect. But since almost or absolutely all living things in nature follows the

Fibonacci sequence, we can assume that these things are beautiful.

The photo below is a photo of a succulent called Sedum Clavatum or commonly

known by the name of Tiscalatengo Gorge and it is a member of the plant family called

Crassulaceae family. This succulent plant is common in Mexico and it has medicinal

benefits like any other succulents of it’s kind. I took this picture when we stayed at of the

house of one the members of our group. Plants without flower can sometimes be boring

but there are special cases that flowerless plants can be very attractive like succulents. As

a bud, it start off with 3 leaves.. This flower also satisfy the Fibonacci sequence since it

has 3 buds to start off as a bud and the number is in the sequence has 3 in it. As the

succulent thrive and grow, the plant grows more leaves and pushes the older leaves

outside and grow more new leaves inside. The arrangement and the pattern it makes with

it's leaves is like a spiral starting with the new leaves inside and traces unto the old leaves

outside. The overlapping and spiral arrangement of this succulent is beautiful that a

flower in is not necessary. It's design itself is enough to make itself to he called beautiful,

Sedum Clavatum maybe flowerless but with the existence of the Fibonacci sequence in it,

it becomes beautiful in every way.
