I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of a 60 minutes discussion, the pupils should be able to:
A. Identify the part of plants and its function.
B. Label the parts of the plants; and
C. Materials: printed pictures, activity sheet, envelopes, marker, cartolina, manila paper, chart
D. Value Integration: Love and Appreciation of plants as one of natural resources
E. Strategies: Singing a song and picture study

B. MOTIVATION
So, class, before we go on to our lesson let us
read first a poem entitled “PLANT”. Please
listen as I read the poem.
The Plants will grow so tall,
If you give them water.
The plants will grow so green,
If you give them sunshine.
Why do roots seen below the ground? Because they absorb water with dissolved
minerals from the soil ma’am.
What is the other work of roots? They hold the plant to the soil ma’am.

Next, the stem holds the leaves, flowers and
fruits of the plants.
They give passageway of water and minerals
to up from the roots to leaves and other
parts of the plants.
What parts of the plants holds the leaves,
flowers, and fruits?
The stem ma’am.
Do all plants have stem? Yes ma’am.
What is the main purpose of the stem? They bring water and dissolved minerals from
the roots for the leaves ma’am.

The leaves make the food for the plant.
The leaves are the most important part of the
plants.
Without green Z, a plant cannot make food
for its growth.
What do you call the part of the plants where
it makes its own food. Leaves, ma’am.
What is the work of the flowers? It helps the plants to make seed ma’am.

The fruits hold the seed of the plants.
Some fruits are big while others are small.
Fruits have different shapes too.They differ in
colors and tastes. Some are sweets while
others are sour.
What part of the plants holds the seed? Fruits ma’am.
What do you think is the other use of fruits? For food ma’am.

Based on the activity that you have done,

We have learned the parts of the plants and

Okay class, let us have another activity.

Macmac was in the school garden. He pulled (One pupil will volunteer.)
one plant, remove the roots, leaves and
divided the stems into two parts. Worst of
all, he threw it.
