number of medals won by the universities.
3. Generally, the university which had more factors influencing its athletes’ performance won more medals.
4. Generally, the university which won more medals had more factors influencing its athletes’ performance.
5. Generally, more factors influencing athletes’ performance meant more gold medals won by the university.
6. UA which had the most number of factors influencing its athletes’ performance won the most number of
gold medals.
7. UD athletes’ performance was the worst as it was influenced by the least number of factors.
8. Generally, more factors influencing athletes’ performance lead to winning more medals.
9. Generally, more influencing factors translated into better athletes’ performance.

Analysis (Table 1)
1. UA’s athletes performance in 2018 was influenced by the most number (5) of factors (Coaches, ‘Nutrition
experts,’ Incentives, ‘Sports facilities’ and ‘Training hours’).
2. The most number (5) of factors (Coaches, ‘Nutrition experts,’ Incentives, ‘Sports facilities’ and ‘Training
hours’) influenced the athletes’ performance of UA.
3. The number of factors influencing athletes’ performance in UA was the highest (5) (Coaches, ‘Nutrition
experts,’ Incentives, ‘Sports facilities’ and ‘Training hours’).
4. The smallest/least number (2) of factors (Coaches, ‘Training hours’) influenced the athletes’ performance of
UD.
5. UD’s athletes’ performance was influenced by the least number(2) of factors (Coaches, ‘Training hours’).
6. UB’s athletes’ performance was influenced by the second most number (4) of factors (Coaches, ‘Nutrition
experts,’ Incentives and ‘Training hours’).
7. The second most number (4) of factors (Coaches, ‘Nutrition experts,’ Incentives and ‘Training hours’)
influenced UB’s athletes’ performance.
8. More factors (4) influenced UB’s athletes’ performance (Coaches, ‘Nutrition experts,’ Incentives and ‘Training
hours’) than the three factors (Coaches, ‘Incentives, and ‘Training hours’) that influenced the athletes’
performance of UC.
9. More factors (4) influenced UB’s athletes’ performance (Coaches, ‘Nutrition experts,’ Incentives and ‘Training
hours’) than the athletes’ performance of UC (3 factors - Coaches, ‘Incentives, and ‘Training hours’).
10. The athletes’ performance of UC was influenced by more (3) factors (Coaches, ‘Incentives, and ‘Training
hours’) than the athletes’ performance of UD (2 factors – (Coaches and ‘Training hours’).
11. Two common factors (Coaches, ‘Training hours’) influenced the athletes’ performance of all four
universities.
12. ‘Sports facilities’ influenced the athletes’ performance of only UA.
13. ‘Incentives’ influenced the athletes’ performance of all the universities except UD.
14. More factors (4) influenced the athletes’ performance of UB compared to the number of factors influencing
athletes’ performance of UC (3) and UD (2).

Synthesis (Figure 1 & Table 1)

1. UA won the most number (37) of gold medals in 2018 and the most number (5) of factors (Coaches,
‘Nutrition experts,’ Incentives, ‘Sports facilities’ and ‘Training hours’) influenced its athletes’ performance.
2. The most number (5) of factors (Coaches, ‘Nutrition experts,’ Incentives, ‘Sports facilities’ and ‘Training
hours’) influenced the performance of UA’s athletes to win the most number of gold medals (37) and the
second most number of medals (85).
3. UB and UC won the same number (23) of gold medals although more (4) factors (Coaches, ‘Nutrition experts,’
Incentives and ‘Training hours’) influenced the athletes’ performance of UB than the athletes’ performance of
UC (3 factors - Coaches, ‘Incentives, and ‘Training hours’).
4. UB and UC won the same number (23) of gold medals although more (4) factors (Coaches, ‘Nutrition experts,’
Incentives and ‘Training hours’) influenced the athletes’ performance of UB compared to the 3 factors –
( Coaches, ‘Incentives, and ‘Training hours’) that influenced the athletes’ performance of UC.
5. Although more (4) factors (Coaches, ‘Nutrition experts,’ Incentives and ‘Training hours’) influenced the
athletes’ performance of UB than the athletes’ performance of UC (3 factors - Coaches, ‘Incentives, and
‘Training hours’) UB and UC won the same number (23) of gold medals.
6. UD won the least/smallest number of total medals (37) as well as the lowest/smallest number of golds(17),
silver(10) and bronze(10) in 2018 as its athletes’ performance was influenced by the least number (2) of reasons
(Coaches and ‘Training hours’).
7. The second most number (4) of factors (Coaches, ‘Nutrition experts,’ Incentives and ‘Training hours’)
influenced the athletes’ performance of UB / UB’s athletes’ performance to win the most number of silver (40)
and bronze (35) medals in 2018.
8. Although lesser/fewer factors (4) influenced the athletes’ performance of UB compared to the most number
of factors (5) that influenced the athletes’ performance of UA, UB won more medals (98) than UA (85).
9. Although lesser/fewer or the second most number of factors (4) influenced the athletes’ performance of UB
compared to the most number of factors (5) that influenced the athletes’ performance of UA, UB won the
biggest number of medals (98) while UA won the second biggest number (85).
10. Although fewer/lesser factors(4) influenced the athletes’ performance of UB compared to UA (5 factors),
the total haul of UB’s medals was higher (98) than UB’s 85.
11. UB won the most number (98) of medals although the second most number (4) of factors influenced its
athletes’ performance in 2018 compared to UA which won the second highest number of medals (85) although
its athletes’ performance was influenced by the most number (5) of factors.
12. The same two factors (Coaches, ‘Training hours’) influencing UD’s athletes’ performance was responsible for
it to win more gold medals(17) and fewer but the same number (10) of silver and bronze medals.
13. UC’s athletes’ performance which was influenced by more (3) factors than UD’s athletes’ performance (2
factors) led to/resulted in UC winning significantly more (80) medals compared to UD’s 37.
14. More (3) factors influencing the athletes’ performance of UC compared to two factors influencing the
athletes’ performance of UD led to/resulted in UC winning a significantly bigger number of medals (80)
compared to UD’s 37 medals.
15. Although UA’s athletes’ performance was influenced by the most number(5) of factors, it won fewer
Silvers(18) compared to UB and UC; UB which won the most Silvers (40), its athletes performance influenced by
the second most number of factors(4) and UC which won the second most number of Silvers(32) although its
athletes’ performance was influenced by even fewer (3) factors compared to UA.
16. The most number of gold medals (37) was won by UA as its athletes’ performance was influenced by the
most number (5) of factors. Comparatively, the most number of Silvers (40) and Bronze (35) was won by UB
although its athletes were influenced by fewer and the second most number(4) of factors.
17. Its athletes’ performance influenced by the most number (5) of factors led to UA winning the most number
(37) of Golds while UD’s win of the smallest number of Golds can be attributed to the least number (2) of
factors influencing its athletes’ performance. UB and UC won the same number (23) of Golds although more (4)
factors influenced UB’s athletes’ performance compared to UC’s three factors.

Conclusion
1. In conclusion, more factors influencing the athletes’ performance generally resulted in more medals being
won.
In conclusion, more medals were generally won when more factors influenced the universities' athletes'
performance.
2. Overall, more influencing factors meant better athletic performance by the universities.
3. In conclusion, more influencing factors generally meant better athletic performance by the universities.
