Dear parents/carers,

In our English class, we’re now starting Unit 3 of Super Safari. The topic of the unit is
My family. We’re learning about family members, following instructions and developing
social skills. Your child is continuing to learn English through songs, chants, stories,
games and listening and speaking activities. We also find out about an animal family.

In this unit, your child will learn:

 To name family members: dad, mum, brother, sister

 To answer the question Who’s this? with It’s my (mum).
 To join in with a chant
 To follow instructions: Go to sleep. Wake up. Give your dad a hug.
 To join in with a song about a family
 To listen to and follow a picture story
 To appreciate the values shown in the story and to say This is my friend.
 To find out about an animal family
 To identify the life cycle of a chicken

To help your child progress, you can do the following:

- Listen to the unit song and chant with your child. These are available to download on
the website.

- Practise saying family members from the unit: mum, dad, brother, sister. Encourage
your child to identify people by asking Who’s this? He/She answers This is my (mum).

- Give your child simple instructions to follow using language he/she has learnt in class:
Go to sleep. Wake up. Give your mum a hug.

We hope your child is having fun using Super Safari and enjoying learning lots of new
language!
