Dear parents/carers,

In our English class, we’re now starting Unit 4 of Super Safari. The topic of the unit is
My toys. We’re learning about toys and how to say what toys your child has got. Your
child is continuing to learn English through songs and chants. We’re also finding out
about the size of objects.

In this unit, your child will learn:

 To name toys: ball, car, puzzle, doll

 To talk about possession: I’ve got a (car).
 To join in with a chant
 To follow instructions: Throw your ball. Catch your ball. Tidy up (the puzzle).
 To join in with a song about balls
 To describe the colour and size of an object
 To listen to and follow a picture story
 To appreciate the values shown in the story and to say Where is it? Is it there? It’s
there.
 To differentiate between big and small objects
 To sort objects according to their size, using big and small

To help your child progress, you can do the following:

- Use toys at home to practise key words from the unit: ball, car, puzzle, doll. Point and
encourage your child to name the toys. He/She says, for example, I’ve got a car.

- Practise big and small by asking your child to identify the size of their toys. He/She
says, for example, a big ball.

- Practise the sentences Where is it?, Is it there? and It’s there by playing hide-the-toy.
Hide a toy in a room. Your child looks for the toy. You say: the car – where is it? Your
child looks and asks Is it there? until he/she finds it and says It’s there.

We hope your child is having fun using Super Safari and enjoying learning lots of new
language!
