Culture Documents
A culture adored by the standard-bearers of geekism, anime, the different and quirky, but
also a culture of good gastronomy, and lover of forms and appearance, the beautiful and
the beautiful, of harmony, tranquility and silence, of respect. As you can see, a different
culture, very different from what we are used to due to our Latin character.
Japanese traditional costume: Kimono and Yukata
Within the Japanese traditions we find the most characteristic clothing, we talk about the
kimono and the yukata. For those of you who don't know, kimono literally means “to
wear” although today its meaning has been relegated to the traditional Japanese
costume. We could talk a lot about these costumes that even though they are traditional
costumes, they are garments very commonly used by the Japanese. It is not uncommon to
see couples or girls in groups strolling through central Tokyo dressed in their kimonos or
yukatas, depending on the context and the time of year.
The Japanese wear the yukata more often than the kimono. The first one is made of
cotton and is thinner, more comfortable and cheaper. To distinguish them there is nothing
easier than looking at the legs, the kimono reaches the ground and only reveals the feet
tucked in socks.
Japanese education
Another of the many Japanese curiosities is the way in which they greet each other.
Reverence is their usual greeting, and although it may be exaggerated for us, for them it is
basic.
