similar to a job description, but more specific. These attributes include qualifications, skills,
experience, and knowledge, and sometimes personal attributes

Responsibilities- Who the job holder is responsible for supervising/managing.

E) The human resource manager is undecided about whether to use internal or external
recruitment for filling the supervisor vacancy. Which method would you recommend? Justify
your answer.

I would recommend that the manager uses the internal recruitment, because he already has to
spend a lot of money on new workers and this method is cheaper. Also, it strengthens the
engagement between each employer.

2. A) Define ‘resignation’.

Resignation means that an employee may decide to leave their job voluntarily; for example,

1. A) Define ‘effective communication’

Effective communication is information passed between two or more people or

groups, with feedback to confirm that the message has been received and understood.
B) Identify two methods of visual communication.

Methods of visual communication are pictures/charts and television advertising.

C) Identify four barriers to effective communication.

1. Complex language that doesn’t allow the receiver to understand the message.
2. Lack of trust and respect between the sender and the receiver.
3. Too much info is communicated in one message.
4. Using the wrong medium.

D) Explain two methods the human resource manager could use to communicate her decision
to the 20 part-time staff.

As there are not too many receivers, she could arrange a meeting and explain it orally,
this way the employee can’t say they didn’t receive the message.
Also, she could send the message written and locked so no one can change it and save
it on the records.
E) To what extent is effective communication important to the success of Golden Sands Hotel?

Justify your answer.

Effective communication in this case is very important because if employees do not

find out that their workday has been reduced, there will be an excess of staff present
and there will not be enough tasks for everyone. Therefore, a situation of
misunderstanding between them will be generated.

2. A) Define ‘electronic communication’.

Electronic communication consists on the sender and the receiver communicating via
the internet. It has a lot of benefits, for example there is no need for workers to travel
so much, the message is received instantly, it can connect businesses with customers

managers.

He could choose doing it by an online meeting or via telephone, because he only has to
pass the message to 2 people.
D) Explain the effect on Company A’s effectiveness of two barriers to communication.

If the language used to explain the new method of working according to the machines
is very specific, the workers may not understand completely and have some problems.
If there is too much noise in the meeting, maybe some workers might get distracted
and not understand the way of operating the new technology.

E) Should the operations director use a letter or a meeting to inform the employees about the
plan to introduce new technology in the factories? Justify your answers.

The operations director should use a meeting, because maybe the letter doesn’t arrive to some
workers or they do not read it because they think it is not very important. If he arranges a
meeting, previously when the workers are advised of it, he could remark the fact that what
they are going to listen is very important so they need to pay attention. And also by this
method will ensure that all the staff has been present and heard the message.
