After solving a question and cancelled it for any reason write on it cancel. Q.1(a) State Yes or No for the following statements:. +5) Convection and radiation modes of heat transfer are linear with temperature, ¢V © ii-) Conduction mode of heat transfer always decreases by increasing the thickness of wall for plane wall. Yes iii-) To calculate heat for composite cylindrical wall the outer area is taken because it is easy to be measured iv-) At critical radius the slope of heat transfer with radius of insulation is maximum. v-) All three modes of heat transfer can transfer through the any medium. }) Determine the thermal conductance an thermal resistance for a plane wall (k= 6 W/mK ) whose its thickness is 35 cm and the convective heat transfer coefficients on both sides of the plane are 7Wim'K and 15W/m’K respectively. Q. 2 (a) Calculate the heat loss per 10 m? area, for a plane wall made of the following layers ordered from outside to inside: ~ Conerete layer, thickness 0.15 m and k= 1.4 W/mK. ~ Red brick layer, thickness 0.30 mand k=0.1 W/mK. — Plaster layer, thickness 0.04 m and k = 0.8 W/mK. If the inside and outside convective heat transfer coefficients are 5 W/mK and 12 W/m’K respectively. The inside and outside temperatures are 22 'C and 38 °C respectively. Fid the temperature between all the three solid layers? Q.3 a) A composite cylindrical wall made of steel pipe ( k= 45 W/mK) and inside and outside radii are 10 cm and 12 cm respectively.
