Entrepreneurship

Now a day’s entrepreneurship has become a very trendy word and we can see many

entrepreneurs who are growing and aspiring others. The demand of modern entrepreneurship is

to transform the world. To be a successful entrepreneur there are a lot of challenges and

opportunities and who have a capability to grab those opportunities and overcome from the

challenges s/he automatically becomes a successful entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship is an

opportunity driven and it is an ability to convert the idea into opportunity[ CITATION Fer18 \l

1033 ]. So, there are two leaders, who are a high lifestyle entrepreneur and potential entrepreneur.

Mero Job- Shailendra Raj Giri

The founder and CEO of Mero Job, Shailendra Raj Giri. It is one of the seamless online job

portal here in Nepal. It is also known as a leading career management service provider. With the

help of this portal many people are able to get the job, also their dream job in the right place.

When my interview was over I learned about man things and also I was motivated. He started his

business from the scratch and today he have taken his business to great success and was only

possible because of his hard work and dedication towards his work.

He first started his career after he finished his graduation with a salary Rs 3000, as a

salesman at Vijay Motors. With this job he turned himself into a sales wizard. With his hard

work he doubled the sales of the company and in return he got increment in his salary which was

Rs 5000 in the same year he joined. Though he was having growth I his job but he was not

satisfied and convinced so he left the job.

Now we will be talking about his transition from the salesman to his dream job. With an

idea to sell home appliances he started a new venture after quitting the job at Vijay Motors. His
INTERVIEWING TWO ENTREPRENEURS 4

name of new venture was Royal Homes, which sells a home based appliances on an EMI basis

and it doesn’t take a support of the bank. Within starting of few months of its operation the

business has to bear huge loss around 20 lakhs. With the loss he was be able to realize that to

raise the amount of EMI from the customer is not possible. Reasons for this was, most of his

customers used to stay out of valley, and here they were staying in a rental rooms.

After facing all this failure he was thinking to leave his dream of entrepreneurship which

was to build his own venture. He again thought to start a new job but again he remembered his

failure and that was pulling him backwards. But he was able to make up his mind and he

registered a company named Real Solutions, where he used to print and sell the motivational

posters of people’s favorite artists and actors. This company also was not successful and he

dropped his idea. After getting failure most of the time he was very frustrated.

One day suddenly one of his friend asked him about what Real Solutions give? He

answered that any solutions that can make the person’s life easier. So, his friend asked him to

solve his problem to find a good mechanic and receptionist for his job. Then automatically it

triggered to Mr. Giri and he turned Real Solutions into an employment exchange and job

providing company. He created a platform where the companies can say about their requirement

and people who are looking for job can find the right job. Many of the organization now a days

are facing the problem of skilled human resources[ CITATION Dec94 \l 1033 ].

After a month his company achieved a huge success and has more than 1000 accounts,

more than 100 million views on their page, 1 million monthly visits which have helped them for

3 lakh people who are looking for jobs. Now he have more than 50 people working with him and

he has over 15000 clients.

INTERVIEWING TWO ENTREPRENEURS 5

From an entrepreneurial perspective his company started to grow around 2008 and with

his growing business now he is convinced and he runs it with pride. He identified about the

opportunity in the market and was able to capture the market in very short period of time. He

didn’t thought to make it bigger but because of he was getting various opportunities so he was

very happy and continuing this business. Just in case, if he get other opportunities which is

beneficial for the organization than definitely he will grab it but for now he is satisfied with his

business and will keep on continuing it.

Glocal Pvt Ltd – Asish Thakur

The executive director of Glocal Pvt Ltd, Mr Asish Thakur. It is an online portal which deals

with news, CSR and Branding, also focuses on training and development at Glocal After School.

For its growth and development there are various projects like Glocal International Teen

Conference, Glocal Teen Hero, CEO unplugged etc. While I was interviewing Mr. Thakur he

reflected his journey of entrepreneurship through a belief of thought into a reality. He had a

vision to show the positive aspect of the youths with the help of media, which was lacking in our

country. He started with a news portal named Glocal Khabar in 2014. With the help of this portal

he wanted to provide youths a platform where they can be encouraged for good works that they

have done. He said that first when he started Glocal there were only 15 volunteers in a small

room. But people couldn’t see any growth and he started to lose people. By the end of 2015 there

were only 5 employees and he called them as a power packed team. Then slowly the team started

to work hard and brought Glocal into existence, they also started ECA in various higher schools

and colleges. He then realized that exposure is the also important in order to run a business

smoothly. He planned to design and implement various ECA in different colleges for their

students. Then ECA become the core project of Glocal. He also started to fulfill the gap between
INTERVIEWING TWO ENTREPRENEURS 6

job seekers and employee seekers. This gap is because of lack of skills in human resources so he

started to serve people in the field of skills and provide them training and this has become one of

them training and this has become one of the successful project of Glocal. Today Glocal have

more than 30 clients and is able to reach more than 30000 people who are involved in this

training and skills developed activities.

Talking about his entrepreneurial perspective, he believes that because of his personal

vision that has helped him to shape the company’s vision he says about the relation of his vision

and his company. Envisioning to provide the business solution throughout the world as he

dreams to spend most of the time at flights and airports.

He always dreams big and want to create billion dollar company was his vision and that

is possible when he collaborates all around the world. He visions to be in the field of business

and that is not possible in being isolated. He believes in making strong connection with the

people he meets or with his employees. He personally motivates his employees, empower them

to feel ownership in their work and that has enable him to work more closely and that can be

beneficial to achieve the desired goals of the company. Today Glocal has achieved many success

where he stated with 5 employees has now increased up to 45 people who are helping Glocal to

grow either directly or indirectly.

He states that Entrepreneurship is not only doing business, but it doing anything with

creativity, innovative and newness. To have entrepreneurial mindset is important. Practicing

entrepreneurship is a process to learn and mature the work you do and how you do it. Since when

he started it is a continual process for him. With the growth of the company, the growth of

individual is automatically linked.

INTERVIEWING TWO ENTREPRENEURS 7

After interviewing him I think he portrays himself to be high potential entrepreneur, with

a vision to build a billion dollar company ad that has its presence in all around the world. He

believes to work in a collaborative way with his team and taking all the team with him, rather

than just moving forward alone, believe in power of team, which is also one of the important

factor of successful entrepreneur. Any entrepreneur to get success, s/he should have an

entrepreneurial mindset.

Confirmed Old Lessons

According to Timmons’s Model of Entrepreneurship, there are three factors in which

entrepreneurial process is dependent and i.e. opportunity, resources and team[ CITATION Tim04 \l

1033 ]. With my experience after interviewing both the entrepreneurs Mr. Asish Thakur and Mr.

Shailendra Raj Giri, they both have more focused on their team and they were seeking the

opportunity with the available resources.

Talking about first lesson, both the entrepreneurs grabbed the opportunity and started

their venture. They were able to identify the need of the market and started to find solutions.

Wither it be growing business of lifestyle business all you need to do is grab the opportunity. As

the journey of both the entrepreneurs were same and also their problems but they both brought

different solutions and worked accordingly. Opportunity is defined as a range of circumstances

which opens a door to economic mobility and human progress[ CITATION Mar63 \l 1033 ]. As there

are plenty of ideas that comes daily but opportunity rarely comes.

Secondly, to work better in their entrepreneurial process, resources plays a vital role.

Shailendra Raj Giri named his company as Real Solutions, which used to provide the solutions

for human resources. He properly utilized the resources and kept working on it. Another side,
INTERVIEWING TWO ENTREPRENEURS 8

Asish Thakur had power packed team and he sustained his business by forming Glocal Pvt Ltd.

He also provided the need of designing and implementing it to different colleges and also Extra

Curriculum Activities.

Lastly, the most important factor i.e. team. After interviewing both the entrepreneurs, as

the starting of their business was with the right team which they have chosen. Number of the

employees doesn’t matter until and unless there are great people who work with full dedication

to achieve a desired goals of the organization.

New Insights

After interviewing both the entrepreneurs, the new insights that I have gained is the way they

started their business and gained success in their business. One of the key element for bringing

the idea of entrepreneurship is to seek the opportunity. If the opportunity is grabbed in right time

than any business can achieve success and the business will grow. It also taught me that it is not

only about what others are doing but doing same thing in an innovative and creative way.

Though both the entrepreneurs had the same objective to fill the gap between job seekers and

employee seekers, but the approach they applied was different and both are achieving success by

each passing day. Both the entrepreneurs are the perfect examples who took risk, grabbed the

opportunities and found the best solution for it.

Direction for Self

With the help of the interview I learned more clearly about the definition of the entrepreneurship.

What challenges you need to face and how you can overcome from it. To conclude my learning,

it has directed to one particular line i.e. “Thought into Reality” these can be focused into: to have

success in entrepreneurial journey, the entrepreneurial mindset is important[ CITATION Dwe06 \l

INTERVIEWING TWO ENTREPRENEURS 9

1033 ]. As there might be lots of opportunities but you need to identify them by looking outside

the boundaries[ CITATION Kra85 \l 1033 ]. In today’s world collaboration has become the important

factor to succeed. As Isolation is considered as a traditional way of entrepreneurship and today

collaboration is the secret for success. For any entrepreneur the most important factor is team.

The right ream who takes ownership in the company and work together to achieve the goal of the

organization, number doesn’t matter[ CITATION Kal15 \l 1033 ]. Courage is also important, as they

need to sacrifice a lot of things.

Thank you Note

I am grateful that you allocated your precious time for the interview, as it is always privilege to

talk with the most renowned entrepreneurs. It was really a good time and also I got to learn many

things from you both. Also, I hope we will have more insightful discussions in the future. U

would also like to congratulate you both for the success for your business and keeps on growing

day by day. Thank you for your precious time. It was an amazing talking with you both.
INTERVIEWING TWO ENTREPRENEURS 10

Conclusion

In each and every business there might be success or failure but entrepreneurs should be able to

maintain both the situations. An entrepreneur should be able to take risk and grab opportunity.

Instead of giving up we should keep on trying. As it is said that failure is the first step towards

success. We can learn from our failures and not repeat it again. After that we can gain success I

business and achieve desired goals.
