Every day, an old lady would travel to a nearby town from her village to
trade. One day, a town shopkeeper asked her to sell a pound of rich
village butter to him. As requested, the old women looked for the finest
butter she could find in her village. On her next visit to town, she brought
the butter to the shopkeeper and sold it to him.
After the women left the shop, the shopkeeper weighed the butter to see
if he got what he had paid for. The butter was a few ounces less that a
pound.
The angry shopkeeper decided to take the matter to the court. The old
lady was questioned for her doings. Perhaps the scale she used for
measurement wasn’t accurate.
The old lady claimed to have no instrument for the measurement of the
butter. She said- “I have no measuring instrument. I have been buying a
pound of loaf of bread from the shopkeeper regularly. I put the loaf of
bread on the scale and gave him the same weight in butter.”
The shopkeeper was embarrassed. His dishonesty had revealed. The old
lady was pardoned. Instead, the shopkeeper was charged for his
fraudulence.
Moral: Honesty is the best policy. What goes around comes around.

Two parrots built a nest in a banyan tree. They lived with their two young
ones, which they took good care of. The mother and the father parrot went out
to gather food in the morning and came back home by evening. One day,
when their parents were away, the young parrots were taken by a cruel
hunter.
One of the birds managed to escape and flew away from the hunter. He
ended up at a hut and grew up listening to kind words and compassion. The
hunter put the other parrot in a cage, and soon it learned a few words and
phrases. The hunter and his family were crude and didn’t care much about
kind words.
One day, a passerby was resting outside the hunter’s hut. Sensing someone
outside, the parrot said, “Fool, why are you here? Fool! Leave! I’ll cut your
throat”. Scared, the traveler went away, and on his journey, he reached the
hut where the other parrot was. The parrot at the hut spoke, “Welcome
traveler. You are free to stay here as long as you want”.
Surprised, the traveler told the parrot that he encountered a similar parrot
elsewhere and it was very cruel. How is that you are so kind?” The parrot
replied, “That must be my brother. I live with the saints, and my brother lives
with hunters. I learned the saint’s language, and my brother learned the
hunter’s language. The company we keep decides who we will be”.
THE STORY OF LIFE
Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were
meant to be there, to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or to
help you figure out who you are or who you want to become. You never know
who these people may be (possibly your roommate, neighbor, coworker,
longlost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger) but when you lock eyes
with them, you know at that very moment that they will affect your life in some
profound way.
And sometimes things happen to you that may seem horrible, painful, and
unfair at first, but in reflection you find that without overcoming those obstacles
you would have never realized your potential, strength, willpower, or heart.
The people you meet who affect your life, and the success and downfalls you
experience help to create who you become. Even the bad experiences can be
learned from. In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones.
If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they
have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious when
you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally,
not only because they love you, but because in a way, they are teaching you to
love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.
Make every day count!!! Appreciate every moment and take from those
moments everything that you possibly can for you may never be able to
experience it again. Talk to people that you have never talked to before, and
actually listen. Let yourself fall in love, break free, and set your sights high.
Hold your head up because you have every right to. Tell yourself you are a
great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don’t believe in yourself, it
will be hard for others to believe in you. You can make of your life anything you
wish. Create your own life then go out and live it with absolutely no regrets.
At the year’s end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those
years ago. One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.
Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the
wonderful woman who taught by example that it’s
never too late to be all you can possibly be .When you finish reading this,
please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they’ll

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn to not judge
things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a
pear tree that was a great distance away.
The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and
the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what
they had seen.
The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.
The second son said no – it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
The third son disagreed, he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet
and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.
The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit,
full of life and fulfilment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had
each seen but one season in the tree’s life.
He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and
that the essence of who they are – and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from
that life – can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it’s winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the
beauty of your summer, fulfilment of your fall.
Don’t judge a life by one difficult season. Don’t let the pain of one season destroy
the joy of all the rest.
OUR VALUE
A well known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a $20 bill. In the
room of 200, he asked, “Who would like this $20 bill?”
He said, “I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this.” He
proceeded to crumple the dollar bill up.
He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. “Now who still wants it?” Still the
hands went into the air.
“My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did
to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was
still worth $20.
Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by
the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way.
We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what
will happen, you will never lose your value. You are special – Don’t ever forget
it!
BUILDING YOUR HOUSE
The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go & asked if he could build
just one more house as a personal favor. The carpenter said yes, but over time
it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work. He resorted to shoddy
workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a
dedicated career.
When the carpenter finished his work, his employer came to inspect the house.
Then he handed the front-door key to the carpenter and said, “This is your
house… my gift to you.”
What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would
have done it all so differently.
So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our
best into the building. Then, with a shock, we realize we have to live in the
house we have built. If we could do it over, we would do it much differently.
But, you cannot go back. You are the carpenter, and every day you hammer a
nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Someone once said, “Life is a do-it-yourself
project.” Your attitude, and the choices you make today, help build the “house”
you will live in tomorrow. Therefore, Build wisely!
