PARENTS’ ROLES IN GUIDING AL-QUR’AN READING TO CHILDREN

AGED 5-6 YEARS AT TALANG KERING VILLAGE OF AIR NAPAL

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to find out how the parents’ roles in guiding Al-Quran
reading to children aged 5-6 years at Talang Kering Village of Air Napal District of
North Bengkulu Regency. This study applied qualitative descriptive method. The
subject in this study was parents of children aged 5-6 years at Talang Kering Village.
The data collection method performed was interview to obtain accurate data about the
parents’ roles of doing their roles in guiding children to read Al-Quran. The data
analyzing techniques applied were data collection, data reduction, data display and
drawing conclusion. Generally, the guidance of reading the Qur’an on children aged 5-6
had been done by parents, and all of the parents guided the children to read Al-Qur’an
with iqro’ method. Recommendation for the parents was should they pay more attention
on Al-Qur’an reading guidance for children, and for the related parties to participate to
create community association of Al-Qur’an reading by extending the Qur’an Reciting
Place.
