It was calculated through the demand flow calculations as mentioned in Design Calculation
Section for the different parts of Hospital and eventually,It was calculated demand flow for the
hospital
Total Nitrous Oxide Demand Flow for complete Hospital 99 lpm at 4 Bar
Nitrous Oxide N2O Distribution shall be by one Fully Automatic Control and Pressure
Regulation Panel, having two high pressure Regulators with a flow capacity of 750 lpm(45 m3/hr)
at 7 Bar .And changing over from one side to the other shall be fully Automatic and Pneumatic
operation shall provide continous operation even in the case of Electricity cut-offs .
Since Nitrous Oxide gas is generally used in critical departments such as operating Theatres,
Delivery rooms and etc. Operating coefficient has to be taken as 100%. Then actual demand for
hospital should be 99 lpm.
Since Automatic Control Panel operates under 7 Atm, Minimum flow demand can be
calculated as:
99*4/7= 57 lpm @ 7 Atm
According to this, Automatic Control Panel has to have High pressure regulators which have
minimum 100 lpm (6 m3/h) capacity under 200-250 Atm operating pressure in order to provide the
total demand of hospital without problem. Medikar Autosystem 8001 Automatic Control Panel has
2 High Pressure Regulators which have 45m3/h flow capacity, these can supply the required nitrous
oxide demand.
According to the standards defined in Section 5 Table 14 of HTM 2022
A Nitrous Oxide cylinder has 18.000 Lt. capacity, and usable capacity is 17.800 Lt. under
137 Atm. Consequently, daily nitrous oxide demand of hospital under 4 Atm is;
99 Lt/m*60 min/h*24 day/h= 142.560 Lt./day
The flow of a Nitrous Oxide Cylinder under 137 Atm is 17.800 Lt.
Under 4 Atm. Pressure it is 17.800 Lt.*137/4=609.650 Lt.
Selected Nitrous Oxide Plant is 2x5 Cylinder capacity
10 cyl.*609.650 Lt./142.560 Lt./day=42,8 days

SSK DUZCE HOSPITAL MEDICAL GAS SUPPLY SYSTEM DESIGN
Thus, selected plant is capable of supplying hospital approximately 42 days.
Thus, the plant should be 2x5 cylinder capacity.
Total Demand Flow for Medical Vacuum for Hospital is 1730 lpm @ 450 mmHg.
According to the HTM 2022 Section 4 Article 4.74, calculated vacuum demand must be multiplied
with an operating coefficient of 75%. Then;
1730 lt/min*0,75=1298 lpm @ 450mmHg vacuum under free air aspired.
Converting to Free Air Aspired at Atmospheric Pressure
1298 @450 mmHg = 2192 lpm @ 760 mmHg(131,5 m3/hr)
Calculated Overall Demand Flow for Hospital is 2192 lpm. To provide that amount of
Flow, the plant should have the following parts.
1. Two Oil Lubricated Air Cooled Rotary Vane Vacuum Pumps.
With 132 m3/hr minimum capacity each
2. 2 ea 1500 Lt. Capacity vacuum reservoir.
3. Bacterial Filter Assembly
4. Transducer Controlled Electrical Control Panel with Digital Vacuum Gauge.
