REPORT ON UJRA NARAYANPUR

INDIAN SEMINAR HAITAT

OVERVIEW

SYNOPSIS

Aim:
To study the various aspects of Indian habitat of the village of Ujra
narayanpur with respect to occupation, education, religion, transportation
and other such factors.
Rationale:
The village of Ujra narayanpur is surrounded by farm lands and the major
occupation of the residents of this village is farming. People are involved
in cattles farmimg
Scope of Study
The seminar focuses on detailed documentation on the different aspects as
resource of rural habitat and the existing conditions of the habitants and the
social fabric of the area.
Methodology:
The methodology adopted for the dissertation is as follows:
• Data collection and Literature study: Different materials is to be studied
to get an insight on the general habitat pattern of rural areas and the to
serve as a basis for study.
• Site Visit: The site visit to be done and observe to get an accurate
data and experience.
• Extensive site surveys and interviews with locals were made to
observe and asses the habitat pattern of the village.
• Census data to be collect from panchayat and other municipal heads.
• An analysis on the observations should be made to form the
conclusion
2. INTRODUCTION
2.1 Abstract
The soul of India lives in its villages, 60 percent of the population still lives
in villages of India. Indian villages have a very beautiful and attractive
lifestyle. The Villages are free from the hustle and bustle of a city life,
villages are peaceful, calm, quite and full of greenery where one can breathe
fresh air. The beauties of villages are described by the way villagers happily
live in the small huts or a home, made by clay or mud but we can also see
pakka house as well.
Villages are most laborious sections country, after industrial revolution mass
population are moved to cities and working as labour class, Serving of
resources to the deprived, helpless and disadvantaged in the villages has often
been an issue with impassible connotations and multiple opinions. Yet,
sincere efforts to help the people in villages and provide them with basic
amenities like education, healthcare, infrastructure and other tangible and
intangible resources is slowly gaining.
This report deals with the study of one such village in the remote area of
Bihar that has been dependent on agricultural resources and neighbouring
habitat , Ujra Narayanpur was first come in noticed 1916 under colonial
period, agriculture is predominant since early but from 20s villages are
moving to gulf for good oppurtinities , a association have been made to
utilization of resources and help body for ech other.in this report resources of
villages with respects to villagers have been highlighted
2.2 Site Justification
Ujra Narayanpur is remote village in Gopalganj in Bihar ,it is in north bihar
divided by ganga and gandak rivers .The Indo-Gangetic plain in Bihar
consists of a thick alluvial mantle of drift origin overlying in most part,
the siwalik and older tertiary rocks that are suitable for agriculture.
The common land (public space) plays important role in habitat of this
village , people are utilising that space in very responsive ways .they use it
for agricultural activities, wedding, health check up centre are also the at
corner ,in summer health check up done at scaffolding areas and also habitual
for cattles.
3. BIHAR
3.1 About
Bihar is located in the eastern region[3] of India between latitude 24°-20'-10"
N ~ 27°-31'-15" N and longitude 83°-19'-50" E ~ 88°-17'-40" E. It is an
entirely land–locked state, in a subtropical region of the temperate zone.
Bihar lies between the humid West Bengal in the east and the sub
humid Uttar Pradesh in the west, which provides it with a transitional
position in respect of climate, economy and culture. It is bounded by Nepal in
the north and by Jharkhand in the south. Bihar plain is divided into two
unequal halves (North Bihar and South Bihar) by the river Ganges[4] which
flows through the middle from west to east. Bihar's land has average
elevation above sea level of 173 feet.
Bihar is mainly a vast stretch of very fertile flat land. It is drained by
the Ganges River, including northern tributaries of other river. The Bihar
plain is divided into two unequal halves by the river Ganges which flows
through the middle from west to east. Other Ganges tributaries are
the Son, Budhi Gandak, Chandan, Orhani and Phalgu. The Himalayas begin
at foothills a short distance inside Nepal but influence Bihar's landforms,
climate, hydrology and culture. Central parts of Bihar have some small hills,
for example the Rajgir hills. The Himalayan Mountains are to the north of
Bihar, in Nepal. To the south is the Chota Nagpur plateau, which was part of
Bihar until 2000 but now is part of a separate state called Jharkhand.
bihar has a population of 9.9 crores comprising 54,278,157 males and
49,821,295 females,with most of the population living in rural areas. The
state is the 3rd most populous state in the country ,around 90% population are
dependent on agriculture

3.2 Goplaganj
Gopalganj is district in division of saran in Bihar, an area of 2,033 sq. Kms
.this district is surrounded by Deoria and Gorakhpur (U.P) in west, west
Champaran and Motihari in north and east , Siwan in south in directions .the
main sourcing river for this district is Gandkak river .lands are majorly
plains with alluvial soils.
According to the 2011 census Gopalganj district has a population of
2,562,012, The district has a population density of 1,258 inhabitants per
square kilometre . Its population growth rate over the decade 2001-2011 was
18.83%. Gopalganj has a sex ratio of 1015 females for every 1000 males and
a literacy rate of 67.04%.
NH 28 passes through Gopalganj one can find the multiple buses for
commuting in state and other state.
Siwan Junction railway station is the main railway station for Gopalganj.
Thawe station also serves local passenger other small station: Hathua Road,
Sasamusa, Sipaya-(Serves Kuchaikote, Khutwania, Dubey Khariya, Vinod
Khariya and nearby Villages), and Tamkuhi Road
Jay Prakash Narayan Airport Patna and Mahayogi Gorakhnath
Airport Gorakhpur are the nearest commercial airports
4.UJRA NARAYANPUR

4.1 About

It located near the town of Mirganj, in Gopalganj ,Bihar, . Ujra narayanpur


of Mirganj is named in 1916, when very first map of village and
surrounding drafted , according to ancestors this villages is around 200
years old, were part of hathuwa raj
Hathuwa Raj was a chieftaincy belonging to Baghochia
dynasty of Bhumihar Brahmins. It encompassed 1,365 villages, was
inhabited by more than 391,000 people, and produced an annual rental of
almost a million rupees.[1] It was located in the Saran Division of Bihar.
Earlier seats of the Raj included Huseypur, Kalyanpur, Balchowra and
Baghoch. The Kalyanpur chieftaincy was subjugated by the Mughal
Emperor Akbar during late 16th century.
Land were started used as agricultural resources in 18th centuary under
hathuwa raj so land workers started lived in farms ,this settlement of living
at farms increased slowly and this habitat increased slowly and comes as
villages in 1916.
Now, Ujra narayanpur divided in 5 parts , poorub tola and ahir is primitive
settlement bank of Daha river, naya tola is newly extension. The mostly
people are farmers, herdsmen,blacksmith , daily wages workers and newly
generation going to abroad specially in gulf countries, it have one primary
government school and two private middle school and a madarsa. in last
20 years, most of dwelling are constructed on RCC structues so vernicular
architecture are come to about ends but some vernicular dwelling we can
notices today, they are made up of bamboo(easily available) ,wooden ,
trashes and chikni meetti as finishing.
4.2 Location
Ujra narayanpur is located 3kms away from Mirganj in north direction,it
comes under jhhirwa panchayat ,in gopalganj 17 kms apart. Its is surrounded
by shampur in north , daha rivr and khanpur in east, dharman tola in south
,balsera and chawrah in west .its is situated majorly on belt of road
connecting mirganj to aarna bazaar.another town nearby it is Thawe which is
very popular for THAWE MAA MELA, Uchkagoan is block 8km away .

4.3Accessibility
It is well connected by via roads and railways ,nearest railways station in
hathua 3km and siwan junction 15kms and nearest airport is patna
international airport 120kms away and nearest highway is NH27 15kms away

4.4 Climate
Ujra narayanpur has seasonable climate (means in winter it is too cold and
in summer it is too hot). Climate is characterized by relatively high
temperatures and evenly distributed precipitation throughout the year. The
Köppen Climate Classification sub-type for this climate is (Humid
Subtropical Climate) Summer highest temperatures range from 32˚C to 41˚C
during the month of May. During winters the lowest temperatures range from
10˚C to 18˚C.

4.5 Vegetation
A wide varieties of vegetation are can be seen at the village
Medicinal plants - neem, gular, bargad,peepal and chandan ect
Fruitful plants – leechee , mango, jackfruit, banana, guava pamp, mahua
etc
Sisham,bamboo and kadam are very common trees that can be seen
anywhere
