FABLED LANDS RPG RULES CHANGES:

Purpose: The core rulebook in terms of character creation, leaves too much
customization on dice rolls. This robs players of the experience of choice
when it comes to character customization. The original Fabled Lands
favored player choice, and sandbox-style options. Unfortunately, the
tabletop version veers too much away from the original in this regard.
Another issue at hand, is weak characters and unbalanced parties. There
are 8 attributes, with 1-6 being the starting score for characters. If a player
were to roll the number 6 on the dice six times, then they would have a
total sum of 42. The game only allows you to reroll if your scores have a
sum of 20 or below. If a player rolls a sum of 21, then their average
attribute score is 2.625. A player needs at least one 5 to even have a
profession. With this, and the chance of some players rolling extremely
high, this can lead to severe balancing issues. Unless it is noted below, the
rest of the rules stay intact.

Changes:

Height - Player may choose

Build - Player may choose

Age - Has no positive or negative impact on character

Attributes: Point-buy system. Each player has 28 points to use when

assigning attribute scores. This means each player has an average of 3.5
points to use for each attribute. This system gives the player more choice
in customization, and ensures a balanced party. This will also ensure that
players have more class choices.

Stamina - Every player starts with 9 Stamina. When a character aquires a

new rank, they gain 4 stamina. This keeps every player on an equal playing

1
field.
