2. A classroom has dimensions of 25 m × 20 m × 4 m height with 60 occupants. 6 l/s of fresh air and 20
l/s of re-circulated air are supplied to the theatre for each person. A single-duct ventilation system is
used. If 10% of the supply volume leaks out of the classroom, calculate:

a. the room air change rate

b. the quantity of exhaust air
(10 marks)

3. A room 10 m x 6 m x 2.8 m high has a ventilation rate of 8 air changes per hour. Air enters from a duct
at a velocity of 5.0 m/s. Calculate the air volume flow rate to the room and the dimensions of the circular
duct.
(4 marks)
