Research and Planning (Rationale, RQ and relevancy of sources)

Explained all the key terms in the claim
Explain the link between independent and dependent variable and parameters of your choice.
Clearly stated how the dependent variables will be measured.
In-text referencing for all the key terms
RQ has a clear IV, DV and process of measuring the DV is explicitly stated
Use of sufficient and relevant sources to support your RQ.
Analysis and interpretation (qualitative/quantitative data)
Primary data (raw data) from multiple resources have been processed to generate secondary data and
graphs to provide evidence supporting research question.
Graphical representation is based on IV and DV identified in the RQ.
Sufficient and relevant sources to provide evidence “for and against” your RQ.
Has identified all features/patterns/relationship/similarities/differences in the evidence
(graph/data/anecdotal) that are applicable to the research question.
Identify any major limitations of the study/studies that were used and referenced to support RQ:
 lack of experimental data to support arguments
 small sample size
 unavailability of resources/similar experimental evidence as presented by one study
 flawed methodology
 conducted under lab conditions
 currency (age) of the data
 lack of statistical analysis in the study to support reliability of the data
Quality of evidence
Refer to the limitations identified in the previous section and discuss the quality based
 Are the sources trustworthy and reliable? How do you know?
 Did you lean too heavily on one source, or use a variety of sources?
 Did you use websites or journal articles? (Note that if you have used only journal articles, the quality
of your evidence is likely to be high but limited by the number of references that you were able to
collect)
 What impact is this likely to have had on your conclusion
 Have you discussed impact of all the limitations you have identified previously
improvements and extensions to the investigation
Have considered other contributing variables of the claim that were not examined by your research
question and stated any suggestions for improvements to the investigated:
 Can the investigation be improved by obtaining more references/evidence about a aspect of what
you investigated?
 Does your RQ needs minor adjustments to look at a more specific area
 Have you stated any other factors (DV) which could influence the findings
Evaluation of the claim (extrapolation to claim)
You will need to assess the following here:
 Can you extend your findings from your specific RQ to wider claim?
 Does the evidence collected enough to support all parts of claim?
 What further investigation will be needed to address variables of the claim.
 Can you apply your findings to wider parameters (context behind your RQ) of the claim (need to
think whether you have considered all the contributing factors in your RQ)
Conclusion
Conclude whether your can support or refute the RQ and justify your decision referring to the conclusions
gained from evidence and limitations of the evidence.

Make a statement about whether the evidence support or refute the claim.
Communication
Reference list and in-text referencing in APA format.
