1) What appeared to an outsider after 1838?


After 1838, it appeared to an outsider that all the colonies were facing the same problems,
finding much the same solutions, and developing among similar lines.

2) What was the most important influence on separate development?


The most important influence on separate development was geography because the larger
the islands (more land), the larger the labour problems would be.

more than the basics of reading, writing and numeracy.
 Pressing as that for land, they slaves had to have land of their own for subsistence
farming

6) What were two fears of the planters?


 The planters feared that they would be faced with no labour force,
 Or be ruined by having to pay excessively high wages.
