The aim of this study is to remove turbidity from water and to compare between two

coagulants, the alum coagulant Al2(SO4)3.14H2O and ferric chloride coagulant Fecl3 and also
to find out which coagulant gives the best efficiency in turbidity removal. In this test, some
devices were used such as Jar test device, turbidirect (lori bond) and senso direct (lori bond).
The water sample, whose study was on it, was containing 200NTU as an initial turbidity. The
results show that Fecl3 coagulant is more efficient in turbidity removal by an efficiency of
72.5% at (20g) than alum coagulant. The increase in coagulant concentration lead to
decrease in turbidity until reach to the best concentration of coagulant which gives the best
turbidity removal but larger than that concentration will cause increase in turbidity. The
importance of this study is to know how to treat the water by a simple and efficient method
since the coagulation & flocculation process is not a complicated method, it just need to a
good coagulant and some mix to give a good result.
