Integrating Tivoli NetView and Entuity provides a cost-effective, powerful network monitoring
and management solution. The Entuity - NetView Integration extends the management scope
of the existing solution by delivering an interface between Entuity and the NetView console.
Entuity's network degradation information, coupled with NetView's realtime fault capability,
helps operators isolate and resolve problems before network-based services are adversely
impacted. Network operators can link to Entuity and drill down to event details in greater
depth, and analyze historical performance to the port level to isolate degradation problems.
Entuity can be integrated with NetView in two ways. This guide details launching Entuity from
NetView and then accessing the Component Viewer, Event Viewer and Find tools. Entuity
can also be integrated with NetView by configuring it to forward SNMP traps to NetView. (See
Entuity User and System Administrator Guide).
About Entuity
Entuity is an out-of-the-box software solution that provides leading indicators enabling
enterprises and service providers to identify critical network performance problems before
they result in unsatisfactory service. Requiring minimal training, the solution offers an
abundant knowledge base to assist with prioritizing network faults in real-time to head off
problems before the business is adversely impacted. Entuity's assessment of network
inventory and utilization patterns also allows organizations to maximize current investments
and plan for future expansion.
2) From Component Viewer click File > NetView Integrate. Entuity installs:
Entuity.reg to /usr/ov/registration/c/registration/
EOSClient.jnlp and EOSNetView.jar to /usr/ov/tools/entuity.
3) Once the installation is complete restart NetView. As Entuity is installed under the
NetView Tools folder and registered as a tool, it can now be launched from NetView.
1) From the NetView Tools menu click EotS > EotS Component Viewer.
2) When you are not currently logged on to Entuity, Entuity displays its standard logon
dialog. Enter the Entuity server’s host name and your user name and password. Entuity
then displays Component Viewer.
2) Restart NetView. The Entuity menu items are removed from the Tools menu.
