Cypripedium tibeticum, Min Shan form ~ Terrestrial

deciduous slipper orchid from cold-temperate mountain regions in North
Sichuan and adja-cent South Gansu. Winter hardy but needs protection from
warm spells and rains in winter. Best grown in pots in an unheated alpine
S0028 house. Modestly easy to grow. Substrate as for the other cypripediums. This is
the large-flowered wine-red form with white base color. We propagate forms
selected for size and color. Height 25-35 cm. Flowers in spring. For additional
cultivation hints see under Cyp. Wenqing.

Flower spread ca. 6–12 cm.

Cypripedium flavum ~ Terrestrial deciduous slipper orchid of cold-

temperate regions in Southwest China. In temperate regions hardy in the
garden, but needs protection from early springs, winter moisture and summer
heat. With some growers easy, otherwise slightly difficult, especially in warm
summers. A recommended substrate is 4 parts perlite (3-5 mm), 1 part
S0008 composted bark (or peat) and 1/4-1/2 part finely crushed limestone (or
dolomite), the mix top-dressed with a 2-3 cm layer of dry pine needles. Plant
height 30-50 cm. Flowers in late spring to early summer. For additional
cultivation hints see under Cyp. Wenqing.

Flower spread ca. 4-6 cm.

Cypripedium shanxiense ~ Terrestrial deciduous slipper orchid of

cold-temperate to temperate regions in Northeast, Central and South-west
China. In temperate regions hardy in the garden, if winter moisture protection
is given. Better grown in pots in a cold alpine house. A slightly difficult species.
S0015 A recommended substrate is 4 parts perlite (3-5 mm), 1 part composted bark
(or peat) and 1/4-1/2 part finely crushed limestone (or dolomite), the mix top-
dressed with a 2-3 cm layer of dry pine needles. Height 40-50 cm. Flowers in
spring. For additional cultivation hints see under Cyp. Wenqing.

Flower spread ca. 5-8 cm.

Cypripedium Wenqing (tibeticum x farreri) ~ This is the

horticultural remake of the rare natural hybrid Cypripedium x wenqingiae, the
cross between the wine-red Cyp. tibeticum and the golden and brown striped
Cyp. farreri. Like most primary hybrids easier to grow than both parents. For
H0060 a successful start of growth the dormant shoots need at least 3 months, better 4-
5 months, hibernation at temperatures between 0-4 °C (but do not freeze
them!). The flasks have had the cold-treatment already. During the growing
period keep cool (10-15 °C night, 18-25 °C day) and never let dry out!

Flower spread ca. 6-8 cm.

Cymbidium faberi ~ Terrestrial, temperate to warm-temperate
grower from East, Central, South and Southwest China. Pot culture with water
retentive substrate of good drainage qualities. In winter keep cool and bright
with reduced watering. In summer the plant likes intermediate conditions with
#090193003 good watering. We find cultivation in pure perlite (small grade, drainage holes
covered with fine mesh, top dressed with gravel) quite well-working. Plant gets
30-50 cm tall. Flowers in spring, often fragrant.

Flower spread ca. 5-6 cm.

Cymbidium goeringii, ‘serratum type’ ~ Terrestrial plant

from Southwest China to Taiwan. Corresponds to theJapanese type form of
Cym. goeringii, but in China a widely used synonym for these usually unscented
plants with full segments and an often cross-like flower shape. Cultivation like
#09187002 for the scented form. Both need to be kept cold and dry in winter, too much
moisture leads to rot of flower buds, too little moisture to bud drop. Plants are
20-40 cm tall. Flowers in spring, usually not fragrant.

Flower spread ca. 4-5 cm.

Paphiopedilum barbigerum var. coccineum ~ Lithophytic

orchid from warm-temperate to subtropical regions in Southeast Yunnan and

charlesworthii and a compact type of Paph. hen-ryanum to create a true
miniature hybrid with intensive coloration. With the current flasks on offer we
#490211 expect the same results as seen in an earlier raising of this hybrid in our
greenhouse, of which we have pasted a photo of a first-flowering seedling here.
The plant is an intermediate grower, but should be best kept cold in winter and
warm and humid in summer.

Flower diameter ca. 6-7 cm.

Paphiopedilum helenae ~ Lithophytic orchid from subtropical

regions in West Guangxi. In winter keep cool with slightly reduced watering. In
summer the plant likes intermediate to warm conditions with copious
waterings, excellent drainage required. This is a beautiful miniature slipper

good clones the flower color can be very intensive! Leaves semi-erect to
pendulous, 15-30 cm long and 2-4 cm wide. Flowers in autumn.

Flower diameter ca. 6-8 cm.

Paphiopedilum n.r. (Grace Darling x henryanum f.

christae)~We have used a well proven parent for flavinis-tic/albinistic
complex hybrids in paphiopedilum, Paph. Grace Darling, and crossed it with
the attractive semi-album form of Paph. henryanum, which is known as Paph.
#1450111 henryanum forma christae. Paph. henryanum typically transfers the dark pink
pouch into its hybrids. We expect a compact complex hybrid with yellowish
green to yellow sepals and petals and a pink pouch and a flower diameter
somewhere around 8-10 cm.
Note: The cross between Paph. Grace Darling and Paph. henryanum has not
been registered yet.

Paphiopedilum hangianum ~ Lithophytic orchid from subtropical

regions in South-west Guangxi and Southeast Yunnan. In winter keep cool with
slightly reduced watering. In summer the plant likes intermediate to warm
conditions with copi-ous waterings, excellent drainage required. A slow grower
#10006103 that needs 2-3 years to mature a new growth to flowering size. Leaves spread
20-50 cm. We are currently the only nursery that can offer this rare species as
artificially propagated plants legally with complete CITES documentation!
