SUBJECT: EVALUATION OF OUR SEMESTER 2 COURSES FOR ACADEMIC

YEAR 2019/2020

In response to the TMC update #10, “Safe Mode Provisions for UG Staff and Students”, and more
specifically the statement; “There will be no final exams ….”, the Department of Mathematics,
Physics and Statistics has decided to institute the following measures:
1. All courses within the department will transition to a continuous mode of assessment where
a minimum of five pieces assessments is to be done if the course’s evaluation is without
quizzes or a minimum of seven assessment if the course’s evaluation involves quizzes.
2. Physics courses that have lab components: labs will be completed based on a combination
of labs done on campus and virtual labs to be done online. The following is a breakdown
of this:
PHY 1200 – 4 labs done and 6 virtual labs to be done
PHY 1204 – 1 lab done and 4 virtual labs to be done
PHY 1205 – 3 labs done and 2 virtual labs to be done
PHY 2205 – 1 lab done and 4 virtual labs to be done
PHY 2205 – 1 lab done and 4 virtual labs to be done
