● Located in the Northern region of India, Himachal Pradesh has a population of 6.1
million (as per Census 2001).
● The state has an area of 55,673 sq km and accounts for 5.8 percent of the total land area
in India.

Project Details Airports Authority Of India is planning to develop a greenfield airport at


Nagchala, dist. Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. A Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) has signed with the Government of Himachal Pradesh (GoHP) for the
development of the airport with the unidirectional runway on 15th January 2020.

Additional Info Initially, the airport will be suitable for the operation of aircraft up to ATR 72.
The airport will be implemented through a Joint Venture Company ('JVC')
wherein AAI will hold 51% equity and the remaining 49% equity will be held by
the GoHP or its designated agency. The JVC will undertake the functions of
designing, developing, constructing and completion of the Airport ('Project')
including finance, for commercial civil aviation operation as well as undertake
the operation, maintenance, management of the Airport. JVC is expected to be
incorporated soon.

Total length of the project is 27 Kms.
Preliminary works has been started at site like
filling and cutting its a green filed project.
Work on the project is expected to completed in
December 2021.

of about 2 km., 9 major bridges out of which
one would be a cable stayed bridge, 4 minor
bridges and 89 culverts. The project would be
developed on a new alignment and not only
decongest Shimla city from non-destined traffic
but also improve connectivity to Indo-Tibet
Border and other tourist places in the region.

Corporation is planning an industrial estate at
Pandoga, dist. Una, Himachal Pradesh. The
estimated cost of the project is Rs. 1.22 billion.
Funding will be through Central Government
Grant, Share of SIA & Bank Loan. The financial
closure from bank has been achieved. The
HPSIDC has been nominated by the State
Government as the State Implementing Agency
(SIA) for development of the project under the
Modified Industrial Infrastructure Up-gradation
Scheme (MIIUS) of the Government of India.
Foundation stone was laid in August 2015.
Ground leveling work is in progress. The project
is scheduled for completion in February 2017.

2016 Update It is expected that new units in paper based,


chemical based, glass & ceramic based,
mechanical & allied products, service
establishment, engineering, steel furniture,
pharma, steel wire, wooden furniture etc. may
come up in the proposed industrial area.
Himachal Consultancy Organisation is the
consultant. Embee Financial Services is the
financial consultant. Civil work is in progress.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2017.

Parbati - II
Parbati Hydroelectric Project (Stage-II) is a run-of-the-river scheme proposed to
harness hydro potential of the lower reaches of the river Parbati. The river is
proposed to be diverted with a Concrete Gravity Dam at Village Pulga in Parbati
valley through 31.52 Km long Head Race Tunnel and the Power House shall be
located at village Suind in Sainj valley. Thus gross head of 863 m between
Pulga and Suind will be utilized for generating 800MW power. The diverted
discharge of the river Parbati has been further augmented by diverting the
discharge of various nallahs falling along the HRT alignment.

Teesta Stage-VI HE Project is a Run of River (RoR) Scheme in Sirwani Village of Sikkim to

Road projects- Projects worth ₹1,500 crore including two road projects costing
₹746 crore each in Phagwara in Kapurthala district and Sri Anandpur Sahib in
Roopnagar area were announced along with upgrading of the 67.64 km long
Banga-Garhshankar-Sri Anandpur Sahib-Naina Devi road at a tentative cost of
₹581 crore in which 8.80-km area of the project falls in Himachal Pradesh. The
construction work for a 2.555 km long elevated structure and vehicular underpass
on NH-44 in Phagwara at a cost of ₹165 crore. Six lanes of Delhi to Beas highway
will be upgraded up to Sri Amritsar and that the ministry will ensure the
channelization of Swan River in the area. These projects will benefit the local
populace by way of increased tourism, safer journey, reduced travel time, and
enhanced economic activity.
