Reality Rupture

You have been invited to beta test the latest top secret VR technology at a hidden facility under the Rocky
Mountains. You are taken deep into a sub-basement and strapped into full body VR pods. Your session takes you
inside any fictional universe you can imagine, and lets you experience it first hand.

During your play session, everything suddenly shuts down. You climb out your pods to find alarms blaring,
emergency lights flashing and people shouting. As you open the door, you watch in horror as the fabric of reality rips
apart in front of you, and a terrifying, yet familiar, creature phases into being. It proceeds to rip apart an engineer
who was coming to your aid, then, as quickly as it arrived, it begins to fade from existence again.

As you recover from the shock, you realise something feels different. You can feel the same dimensional energy
flowing through you. The rifts have also given you powers from other universes, if you can learn to use them, maybe
you stand a chance of making it out alive.

Rules
To generate a character roll a D20 on the ‘You have the Power!’ table to receive your power. Alternatively, you can
pick your own power from universes you are familiar with. To perform an action that the Rift Master doesn’t believe
has a certain outcome, or to use your power, roll a D6. If your roll:
6 - It works flawlessly | 5 - It mostly works | 2-4 - It mostly fails | 1 - It fails spectacularly.

Each time you roll a 6 while attempting to use your power, you gain a proficiency level (up to a maximum of 4). For
each proficiency level you can roll an additional dice when determining if a power action succeeds or not, and pick
the highest.

Your beta testing group contains 10 people. Any other characters who are not players still travel with you, but do
not take actions or have powers. Their survival is not mandatory, but if they all die the entities are likely to come for
you next. The Rift Master must judge if an action by you or an entity has resulted in the death of a fellow gamer.

Reality Rifts - Rift Master only
The fictional universes you were visiting are now bleeding into your own. You must survive these brief encounters
as you make your way to the surface and freedom. As you enter each new room in the complex a rift opens. The Rift
Master may determine what entity arrives through the rift (based on universes the players are familiar with), or can
can roll a D20 and consult the table below. Each entity remains in existence for around 1 minute (unless otherwise

Strange Events - Rift Master only
The rifts don’t always behave consistently, and sometimes strange things happen. The Rift Master should roll a D6
to determine what strange event will occur during the gamers escape.

1 - What’s this stuff on the walls?
The walls of the facility are covered in a strange unnatural substance. It is unclear what effect it might have, but the
gamers will find out in due time. (Rift Master decides)

2 - Double Event
At least once during their journey to the surface, the gamers will enter a room where a double event occurs! Two
rifts open at the same time.

3 - Health packs? Ammo? Must be a boss fight!
As they near the surface, the gamers journey through a large open room. As they enter, the entrances seal
themselves and a giant rift appears. Whatever entity appears is much larger than normal and does not fade away. It
must be defeated to continue.

4 - Better Than Life
At some point in their journey, the gamers discover they are still inside the VR game. They then exit, and find they
are back where they started and everything is almost exactly the same. The only difference is they realise if they had
turned the other way at the start there is a much quicker way to the surface.

5 - Where’s Dave?
Every so often, a gamer will disappear. The Rift Master should keep this a secret for as long as possible, but give
hints it is happening. When the party realise something is wrong, they encounter whatever has been taking the
gamers, who are still alive.

6 - Chain Reaction
Something has triggered explosive chain reactions throughout the complex. As the gamer ascend explosions start
going off and the whole place is slowly coming down around them.
