Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy Level(s):

☐ Remembering ☒ Understanding ☐ Applying ☐ Analyzing ☐ Evaluating ☐ Creating

Levels of Technology Integration:

☐ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or
Choice” during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☒ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning newscast,
posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This activity engages the students because they are creating a final
product using technology. The students are beginning the topic of civilization by looking at different
civilizations throughout history and the world. The tools used in this lesson idea enhance the students’
learning by serving as a tool to show their understanding. This satisfies the Universal Design for Learning
(UDL) principles because it offers multiple means of representation because the students are researching via
the Internet and using that information to create a map, it offers multiple means of action and expression
because the students are researching the seven wonders outside of class, and it offers multiple means of
engagement because the students are choosing the creative features of their map.
Lesson idea implementation:
In this lesson, we are beginning our understanding of civilizations by researching the seven wonders of the
world. These wonders were built during different times in history and by different civilizations. For this
assignment, students will work in groups and research the seven wonders. They will take this information and
create a map using Padlet with a description for each wonder. After two weeks, each group will present one of
the seven wonders. While other groups are presenting, students listening to the presentation will have a graphic
organizer to take notes of information they are learning as well as any questions they have.

The teacher will facilitate the student’s learning by offering help if necessary as well as keeping the students on
track, but the students will be the ones in charge of their work; they will be doing the learning. The students
will be assessed on the accuracy and the depth of information on their map. The research will be evident
through the description given for each wonder. Following this project, the class will learn about the Native

American civilization. This project about the seven wonders should get the students excited to learn more about
the innovations and civilizations created throughout history.
Reflective Practice:
I think this lesson idea will encourage higher-level thinking since the students are looking into the history of
civilizations and compare them to their own. I would like the students to write a narrative on one of the seven
wonders where they will compare the wonder with civilization here in the United States. The students would
use a Word processing software, which is a Basic Productivity Tool, to type their short paper.
