January,2018 in which
students of F16 batch from
the Mechanical Department
presented their Computer
aided Design and
Manufacturing projects. It
was a whole day activity and
each group of students
displayed their respective
projects in the front
courtyard. The exhibition

2 DAY SUFI RUMI PEACE CONFERENCE 2019

VIS Department and Catalyst Society organized
an event by the name of “2 Day Sufi Rumi Peace
Conference 2019” to promote peace through
Sufism. This event was organized in
collaboration with Satranga Cultural
Development Organization (SCDO).
The 2 day conference was inaugurated by Mr.
Mian Shafqat Ali (Ex-President LCCI, Advisor
to Governor GB). Documentaries on Peace were
shared on both days followed by panel
discussions. On 1st day, rumi raqs and sufiana
kalaam was presented.
2nd day concluded by a soul stirring Qawwali
session. The auditorium was full of peace loving
youths who wanted to be enchanted with Sufi
Music and Raqs. Everyone enjoyed the mystic
charm of sufiana kalaam, rumi raqs and
qawwalis. The event concluded with the
distribution of souvenirs among the
management team, performers and volunteers.

A SIX-DAY RECREATIONAL TOUR TO
HUNZA, KHUNJERAB AND NALTAR VALLEY

A six-day recreational tour to Hunza, Khunjerab and

Naltar Valley was organized by UCP Adventure Club
(UAC). The tour’s attractions included Nomal Valley,
Sost Valley, Naran, Ganesh, Nagar, Chillas and Babusar
Top. More than sixty students along with faculty
members took the tour. They departed from Lahore on
22nd July and arrived on 27th July 2019. UAC’s Patron,
Fahad Anis and team thanked the participants for their
cooperation. The six-day historic tour was a source of
delight for the students, as it provided them with an
unforgettable experience and adventure.

Taakra’19 Qawwali Night was organized
which enthralled the audience with the
voices of two famous Qawwals; Fayyaz
and Shahbaz. Students danced under the
spell of Qawwals’. The international
students were mesmerized by the rich Sufi
culture of Pakistan and enjoyed the
beautiful Qawwalis.
The second social night presented the
audience with a dazzling fashion show
organized by renowned designers Faadi &
Emaan. All the glamour on the ramp left
the audience awestruck. Along with the
fashion show, DJ Awais Haider fired up an
electric crowd with his music.

was the performance of the
world-famous band Sahara, UK
on the 4th day of Taakra’19. The
huge crowd danced to every beat
and the energy just rose gradual-
ly. The performance was followed
by the new age Pakistani
Popstars; Bilal Saeed and Aima
Baig in a very happening and
jam-packed concert. The two
singers lit the stage with their
energetic performances and gave
their audience a memorable
experience.

University of Central Punjab Faculty of

edition of “Subh e Nau” on 4th

Development (ISD) is a

democracy, the rule of law and
justice. It functions as a think

 TRAFFIC AWARENESS SEMINAR
UCP Student Council in collaboration with
City Traffic Police organized a Traffic
Awareness Seminar on 10th April, 2019.
The purpose to conduct the seminar was to
spread awareness to the youth of Pakistan
and create an understanding among them
regarding the importance of traffic laws to
ensure its safety and the people around
them. The seminar was chaired by Captain
Malik Liaqat Ali as the chief guest along
with some officials.

ENTREPRENEURA
The Entrepreneurship Club(TEC) under
the supervision of patron, Ms. Amina
Rizwan organized successfully UCP
–Entrepreneur. It was a 2 day an
inter-university business event held on
12 and 13 April. It comprised of 4
competitions including two case studies
that made students step out their
classroom and experience the real
mechanisms of the business world.
Forty teams from diverse universities
from all over Pakistan vied with one
another to take the winning title their
displayed skills
The event started with the opening
ceremony in which the UCP Entrepre-
neurial was inaugurated. Along with the
Dean Business School, Dr. Faisal
Mustafa, incubation head Takhleeq
Dr.Bilal Zafar the honorable pro-rector,
Muhammad Nizamuddin, also attended
the ceremony and enlighten the partici-
pants with true words of the real market
conditions and encouraged them to push
their limits and acquire new skills
through participating in competitions
like these to test and improve their
worth.
The first day was followed up by the
business idea competition where teams
presented their unique business ideas
and got productive feedbacks. Then, a
finance-based competition took place
'Bargainious', in which finance special-
ized students implemented their
financial skills to analyze a company's
portfolio given in a case study and gave
recommendations. After this, a panel
discussion took place where credible
speakers shed light on the topic of our
young graduates joining either family
businesses or starting up their own.
Furthermore, students engaged in a
networking night and enjoyed the
exchange of communication. The day
was sealed with a comedy night where
everyone received a good dose of
laughter therapy.

Commander (R) Naveed Ahmad was a
part of the elite submarine force of
Pakistan Navy, who later commanded
two submarines. He was an anti-subma-
rine specialist from France and missile
specialist from US. He joined the faculty
of Pakistan Naval War College as
Director Research in 2010. He is author
of the book on “Operational Planning”
which he taught Naval War College.

introduction about the seminar. After-
wards, Mrs. Ayesha Kamal; Patron (IAS)
discussed the objectives and aims of the
society.
In his address the Chief Guest Captain
Moazzam explained the history of Naval
War College, its functions, academic
curriculas, working environment and its
staff etc.

The Debating Society UCP fulfilled its
promise of quality ajudication and
hospitality by bringing together the
biggest names in Asia. The tournament
had 4 preliminary rounds, a semifinal,
and a final. Out of 24 institutions, LUMS
and Services Institute of Medical
Sciences managed to qualify for the
finals. LUMS outshined SIMS in the final
round and won the trophy for the fourth a cash prize of Rs 40,000.

TO KHANPUR DAM
UCP Adventure club organized a one-day trip to Khanpur
dam. The trip was comprised of re-creational activities and
adventures such as Jet Ski, Cliff Diving, Boating etc. The
purpose of such a tour was to rejuvenate. The trip was a great
experience for everyone and praised by the participants who
went on the journey.
JZT ANNIVERSARY
JZT’s 9th Anniversary was celebrated on 22nd April 2019 cake
cutting ceremony was held followed by one-week awareness
campaigns at different hostels, malls and at the UCP Campus.
Teams from societies, Professors and different faculty members
joined the ceremony.

UCP Islamic Guidance Club arranged an
annual event to welcome the Holy month
of Ramadan. A lecture delivered by an
Internationally Prominent Islamic
Scholar “Peerzada Raza Saqib Mustafai”
at University of Central Punjab on April
25, 2019. He beautifully highlighted the
importance and little tasks of ajar in
Ramadan.
Moreover, IGC also structured a wall of
Ramadan-good deeds for knowing,
audience views and commitments in
Ramadan.
A well-known Naat reciter “Syed Zabeeb
Masood” beautifully recited a Naat in his
mesmerizing voice.
The event was a huge success as both
faculty members and students attended

A Dental Health Awareness
Camp in collaboration with
Akhtar Saeed Medical &
Dental College (AMDC), was
held at Old Lobby (Build-

camp was to evaluate the oral
hygiene status and to educate
the students and faculty about
oral health in terms of
brushing techniques, eating
habits and nutrition. Souve-
nirs were presented to the
supervising officer of AMDC

(HOD, faculty of Pharmacy).
OUR SPECIES
The Environment Protection
Society (EPS) under the
Department of Sustainable
Environment (DSE) conduct-
ed a seminar on the topic of
World Earth Day: Protect the
species. The Forest Minister,
Mr. Sibtain Khan, was invited
as the chief guest for the
event. He discussed the
importance of the plantations
and trees and also the harmful
effects of Deforestation.
Moreover he praised the work
and struggle of students
working under DSE and EPS
who are trying to create an
awareness in People for the
plantation drive, reduction of
pollutants and Deforestation
in order to ensure a healthy
and better future for the
upcoming generations. For
this purpose we should first
start from our homes and take
this step forth to a broader
perspective to make a better
future.

UCP photography club has this ritual of
conducting a photo walk in every
semester.
Last Sunday UPC arranged a
photo walk starting from new
food street to all the way to
the Delhi gate.
All of the participants
gathered in the front court
yard of the University
around 8 in the morning and
were divided in to the groups
of 10 to 15 people. After that
They were assigned the buses
according to the groups
which took them to the
terminal of Lahore sightsee-
ing buses located in Qadafi
stadium. They switched the
buses with the sight seeing
double decker’s and started
our journey to Food Street. The driver
took the route from modern to old
Lahore, starting from main boulevard
Gulberg to mall road and finally to the
Food street.
The experience of the double decker
buses was really amazing, everyone
enjoyed the journey. The students sang
different songs and took a lot of pictures
as none of them had ever experienced the
sightseeing service before.
After reaching the Food Street they went
to the Sweet Tooth Cafe where UCP had
arranged breakfast for all of us. The place
was really great with a lot of colors and
amazing art works on the walls plus the
serene view of Badshahi Mosque and
Lahore Fort made it a lot more exciting
for all of them.
After having the delicious breakfast of
purri halwa and Lassi, they were again
divided in to the groups and started their

journey all the way toward delhi gate.
The day was really hot but it didn't
became a hurdle in face of their excite-
ment. Narrow streets, old buildings and
amazing Lahori people of the walled city
was such an amazing experience to have.
They took many pictures and had a lot of
fun in them way to the Delhi Gate. Our
guides of the walled city authority were

notable building and markets on thier
way.
After covering many traditional markets
and taking a lot of pictures they reached
the famous Wazir Khan Mosque, they
offered the Namaz of Zuhur and were
amazed by the architecture and calligra-
phy which was done 380
years ago.

mosque was so beautiful
that no one would resist
to praising its amazing
structure.
After that the students
went to the Shahi
Hamam located at
walking distance from the
mosque, the Hamam was
made by the Mughal
emperor Shahjahan to
have quality baths. It
consisted of 3 sections,
one for the cold water
bath, second for the hot
water, and the last one was the
steam bath.
They were really amazed by
the sense and architecture of the building
as it was still standing after almost 3
centuries.
They all were feeling exhausted after a
long day of fun and excitement. Back at
the University they were treated to a
lunch which was again arranged by the
photography club.
Everyone was served with a single
serving of deliciously cooked kabuli
pulao and then returned back to their
homes after a productive day.

HIKING TIPS AND
TECHNIQUES FOR
BEGINNERS.
UCP Adventure club organized one day
work shop on 21st of May, 2019 catering all
aspects of Hiking tips and techniques for
beginners.
Prof. Dr. Mian Hanan Ahmad ( Dean
FMCS) was chief guest of this work shop.
Adventure club is setting benchmark in
promoting healthy adventure activities,
especially camping, trekking and hiking etc.
Apart from the main adventure activities,
the Club has organized a number of
programs of social and ecological impor-
tance. Adventure club is striving hard to
develop the sense of importance of adven-
ture sports in youth and to provide
assistance to its members and to others
regarding arrangement of their expeditions.

explained the useful techniques and
approaches for hiking: Mukaram tareen

the work shop more than 90% of partici-
pants were ready and excited about hiking.

were presented to guest and certificates

AT SOCIAL WELFARE COMPLEX
Catalyst Society organized a visit to
Happy Home for Senior Citizens on 28th
May 2019. Society members along with
Patron Muhammad Hammad Ur Rehman
(Deputy Director VIS) visited the Social
Welfare Complex Green Town and
distributed Aftaar boxes, dates and water
among 200 orphans, widows, disabled
and elderly residing in different setups of
the Social Welfare Complex.
This is the second year in a row that
Catalyst Society had arranged Aftaar for
the deserving in the Social Welfare
Complex.

Catalyst Society organized a visit
to Happy Home for Senior Citizens
on 31st May 2019. Society mem-
bers along with Patron Muham-
mad Hammad Ur Rehman
(Deputy Director VIS) visited the
Old Age Home that was formed
under Citizen Community Board
(CCB).
Members spent their time with the
lonely soles and made their day by
sharing some memories of their
good old days. The senior citizen
shared not only their joys but their
sorrows and grievances. Society
members also asked them about
their professional lives and they
in-return gave them very good
advices.
They also requested the members
to come more often as people just
visit them once, interview them,
take photographs with them and
never show up later. UCP’s
Catalyst Society kept that promise
and visited them again and will
continue visiting them every year.
Members of Catalyst Society also
presented gift bags and lunch
boxes to the elderly.

OLYMPIAD
The Society of Mechanical
Engineers SME in collabora-
tion with The Society of

nication SET organized "UCP
Engineering Olympiad"; A
three day intervarsity
competition, in which
massive participation from

across Pakistan was received.
This event offered over 20
competitions under Mechani-
cal, Electrical and General
Category in which more than
400 students participated.
The goal was to organize such
an event was to encourage
engineers to participate in

Olympiad brought forth 2
new competitions named "RC
Cars Racing" and "Robo
Wars" that received massive

On June 18th, Plektra Music
Society organised an event i-e
Battle of Bands in UCP
Auditorium. This event

First ever Legislative Theatre in Pakistan
was in session. It was juried by Justice (R)
Syed Afzal Haider, accompanying him
were government officers and advocates
from Supreme Court. The key focus of this
initiative was to enlighten the audience
about the importance of a dialogue
regarding the issues which are in dire
need of legislation. One such issue,
virasat, was brought to light by a theatrical
performance by the UCP Law Society. The
performance led to a panel discussion on
the topic that was followed by an audience
poll. The topic raised by the society was
supported by the majority of the audience
and the panel members. They then
decided to promote it to the official
legislative bodies in Pakistan, to see it in
effect.
The fun did not end there, as another
important part of this initiative was a
seminar on Cyber Security. This seminar
was conducted in collaboration with the
Centre for Information Technology (CIT),
Community Development Foundation
(CDF), Centre for Women Entrepreneur-
ship (CWE) and E-Pakistan. These are

First National Rules of Law Initiatives week was
organized by the Law Society of University of Central
Punjab. This week entailed a diverse range of activities
focusing on legal health and awareness about serious
legal issues.

camp was also available for the students
and faculty members of the university.
The camp was organized to understand
the legal needs of people and address their
legal problems, by giving appropriate legal
advice, free of cost and guiding them
about the necessary legal procedure.
Associates from different law firms,
renowned lawyers and retired judges
provided pro-bono services at this legal
health camp and interacted closely with
the students.
All in all, this initiative taken by the UCP
Faculty of Law provided an opportunity to
the students to gain valuable bona fide
experience.

ROBOTICA'19
Robotica ’19 was held on 25 January,
2019 from 11 am to 6 pm at University of
Central Punjab arranged by Society for
Electronics And Telecommunication. The
purpose of this event was to engage
different universities by encouraging the
students to participate in extra-circular
activities such as robowars, line follower,
maze solver, human ludo and go in 60.
The participants from all over Pakistan
were invited to compete over their
technicalities and the winners were
awarded with cash prizes up to 24K. A distributed to the winners by our chief
