A Webinar on “Bringing Theory to Research: Foundations of Academic Writing” was organized

on 20th February, 2021 by the Department of Sociology, NEF College in collaboration with
Centre of Writing and Communication, Ashoka University. The session was presented by the
resource person, Mr. Jyotirmoy Talukdar, Senior Writing Fellow, Centre for Writing and
Communication, Ashoka University.
 2. International Webinar on Cashless Economy: It’s Challenges and Opportunities
The Department of Management in collaboration with IQAC, NEF College organised an
international webinar on “Cashless Economy: It’s Challenges and Opportunities” on 14 th August,
2021 through an online platform. The webinar was presented by Dr. Mahfuzul Haque,
Adjunct Faculty: BUP, DU&BIGM CEO, Policy Research Centre, Bangladesh Director, Social
Responsibility Asia, Bangladesh, Dr. Chandra Upadhyay, Assistant Professor & Head of the
Department of Sociology, Mahendra Morang Adarsh Multiple Campus of Tribhuvan University
(TU), Nepal, Dr. Ramratan V. Dhumal, Assistant Professor at Symbiosis Law School, Pune,
Maharastra and Dr. Biswajit Acharjya, Faculty at Entrepreneurship Development Institute of
India, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The programme aimed at promoting awareness about the prevailing
scenario of cashless economy and its advantages and disadvantages.
 3. National Seminar on ‘Navigation the Waters for Micro and Small Enterprises – It’s
Prospects and Challenges’
A one day National Seminar on “Navigation the Waters for Micro and Small Enterprises – It’s
Prospects and Challenges” was held on 22 nd December, 2021 organized by the Department of
Economics, NEF College in collaboration with ‘Khadi and Village Industries Commission
(KVIC), Government of India’. In the inaugural session, the college had the privilege to have
some esteemed Guest of Honors: Dr. Sukamal Deb, Dy. Chief Executive Officer, KVIC; Dr.
Dinesh Baishya, Former Principal, B Borooah College, Guwahati; Pranab Kumar Sarmah,
Retired Head, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati; Achintya Kumar Baruah, Former
Faculty, Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati. The seminar had various topics of
papers presented by the young and dynamic students from different departments of NEF College
based on the burning economic issues of the contemporary society. The session was highly
interactive and certificates were awarded to all the paper presenters.
 4. Book Release Ceremony
A book release ceremony was held on 30th June, 2020 in the presence of honorable Principal,
NEF College, Dr. Ghanashyam Nath and faculty members for inaugurating the book titled
Gender and Society written by Dr. Rinku Borah, HOD, Dept of Sociology, NEF College.

5. HR Practices in Different Organisations

The Department of Management in collaboration with IQAC, NEF College under the supervision
of Dr. Rinku Agarwal, HOD, Department of Management, NEF College and Mrs. Abhigya
Barooah, Assistan Professor, Department of Management, NEF College organised a two day
online lecture programme on ‘HR Practices of Different Organisations’ on 4 Th June, 2021 and 5th
June, 2021 respectively. The objective of the programme was to give a better understanding
about the HR policies of the various organisations.
 6. Mental Health Awareness Workshop

A workshop on ‘Mental Health Awareness’ organized by the Department of Psychology was held on 12-
2-2022. The main purpose of the event was to make the students aware about mental health and wellbeing
and to reduce stigma associated with mental illness. It also aimed at creating awareness regarding mental
health services when in need and promote the help seeking behavior for coping up with psycho-social
challenges faced by students. The workshop was presented by two esteemed speakers, Ms. Jahnabi
Sharma, Counseling Psychologist, RECBT practitioner, certified Art Therapist and Ms. Dixeeta Garg,
Counseling Psychologist, Career Counselor &certified dream analyst. The programme concluded with a
positive feedback from the participants as they were able to extract valuable suggestions regarding mental
health.
 7. Motivational Speech on Personality Development

A Motivational Speech on ‘Personality Development’ was organized in an online platform on 3rd

December, 2020 by the Faculty of Arts. It was delivered by the honourable speaker, Dr. Pranjal
Buragohain, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Dibrugarh University who shared
some thoughtful insights on the concept of personality development.

8. International Women’s Day

The Department of Sociology, NEF College observed the International Women’s Day on 8 th
March, 2020 in the presence of renowned psychologist and social activists, Alokita Baruah and
Ms. Abha Bharali, researcher and visiting fellow, University of Tartu, Estonia as the speakers for
the day. On the same day, the department took the opportunity to inaugurate their 1 st volume of a
handwritten magazine, ‘The Social Communique.’
9. Awareness Programme
An Awareness Programme on" Drug Abuse awareness" for the upcoming social worker trainees
in collaboration to Sobreity Foundation. The Speaker of the program was Mr. Siddharth Pratim
Dutta, President & Counsellor, Sobriety Foundation on 10th of December 2021

10. Training Programme

One day Training programme on Counselling Skills and Mindfulness hosted by Ms. Puspanjali
Borthakur an International Trainer and Coach of Mind Research Foundation, Bangalore on 7th of
December,2021.
