Two-day National Webinar

“National Education Policy-

2020 and Emergent
Bharat”

On

8-9 August, 2020

About the Webinar
Recently, the Union Cabinet has approved the National Education Policy (NEP),
2020 to introduce numerous reforms in the Indian education system - from the school to
college level. The NEP-2020 envisions “an education system rooted in Indian ethos that
contributes directly to transforming India, into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society,
by providing high-quality education to all, and thereby making India a global knowledge
superpower”. The NEP-2020 is only the third major revamp of the framework of
education in India since independence and the first policy document on education in the
twenty first century— the earlier two education policies were brought in 1968 and 1986.
The National Education Policy 2020 aims to facilitate an inclusive, participatory and
holistic approach, which takes into consideration field experiences, empirical research,
stakeholder feedback, as well as lessons learnt from the best practices. The Policy has much
to offer to every segment of the learning community with massive restructuring of education
system starting from foundational stage to the university education. The much awaited
policy document offers the bouquet of dreams for the students aspiring to imbibe holistic
perspective to education. On the one hand, NEP-2020 is a commemorative document that
acknowledges the traditional value system cherished, sustained and disseminated by the
ancient universities, while on the other hand it paves the way for preparing the young minds
for global challenges. As a whole, it introduces a progressive shift towards a more scientific
approach to education. The structural, curricular and pedagogical reforms suggested in the
Policy will help the education system to deliver in sync with the ambitions of the young
learners who aspire to perform as the catalysts of desired change.
NEP-2020 meets the expectations of every segment of learners, teachers, educational
administrators, and, therefore, it is crucial and inevitable for all the stakeholders of
education system to understand and internalize the Policy document in entirety.
The Two-day National Webinar organized by SHoDH and Central University of Haryana
shall provide a platform to the researchers, teachers, academicians and the academic
administrators to discuss and deliberate the NEP-2020 as an ambitious and futuristic
document for AtmaNirbhar and Emergent Bharat.
