Club Activity based on Research Work : E-Poster Competition

An E-poster competition entitling “Present your research work” was organized by


the Research Club, UIBT on 10 April 2021 in online mode. A total of 10 entries
were submitted by MSc and Phd students. Respected judges for the
corresponding event were Dr Vagish and Dr Swati. Students presented there
research work in the form of poster templates and every student got 5 minutes to
present and then answer queries asked by the judges. Finally on the basis of
marks given by the respected judges, Rajinder Kaur and Jaspreet Kaur were
declared as first and second respectively from the PhD category whereby Gurleen
Mangat was declared as the first winner from MSc category.
Health Club Activity on Online Diet Consultation

A virtual event was organized by the Health club of UIBT on the topic “Online diet
Consultation (Eat right Live right) ” on 20 th March 2021. The Health Club team
organized this event. The event focused on the concept of healthy diet. The event
coordinator Mr. Mahavir Joshi along with the healthclub coordinators Mrs.
Hardeep Kaur & Mrs. Sneh guided the participants. Dr. Anshu Malik was the
guest speaker for the day . Attendees learnt that healthy diet plans and immunity
make us happier, healthier, and more productive. Maintaining a healthy diet
keeps the immune system balanced and ready to fight against infection and
viruses.
Digital Poster Presentation : Save River Save Life

An Online Digital Poster Presentation on theme- SAVE RIVER SAVE LIFE was
conducted by the college department on 27 th Feb 2021 . The Environment club
team consisted of faculties and students who contributed equally to make this
event successful. Mr. Mahavir Joshi was the event coordinator along with club
coordinator Dr. Swati Sharma and Dr. Swaati Sharma. The participants were
asked to participate either in groups or individually. The Eevent was conducted in
two rounds, the first round was abstract submission followed by round 2 of
PowerPoint presentation. The first, second and third position were bagged by
Neha (MSc Biotech II Year), Monishka (BSc Biotech II Year) and Nikita (BSc Biotech
II Year). The major highlights of the event were, no use of paper in this event and
to create more awareness among students regarding water and to put creative
ideas of saving water so that we can nurture and protect our mother earth.
Expert Talk by Dr. Rahul Taneja

This event was conducted by UIBT on 17 March 2021 under the coordination of
Mr. Mahavir Joshi. A Total of 480 students joined the online event . Dr. Rahul
Taneja is working as a Scientist at Haryana State Council for Science and
Technology. Panchkula (Haryana). He holds professional degrees including
Master of Pharmacy, MBA (International Business), Post Graduate Diploma in
Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Practices. As a Scientist at the Council for
Science and Technology he facilitates the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of
Haryana and Chandigarh for IPR related issues. He gave the students an insight
on IPR and its role in product development and research. Overall the session was
very informative.
Expert Talk on “Biotechnology from Industrial Perspective”

The corresponding event was organised under the coordination of Mr. Mahavir
Joshi on 21 April 2021. A total of 400 students attended the event on Blackboard
platform. Dr. Sibabrata Mukherjee is working as Scientist and Technical Expert in
Fermentation at Lesaffre Advance Fermentation-LEAF. Sibabrata leads the
technical services for creating value in India which includes facing and understand
the customer’s problem, analyse them and suggesting recommendations to
maximise the fermentation performance and efficiency. In commercial terms to
maximise profitability by betterment of productivity, saving in energy and
recovery. His talk was based on the topic ‘Biotech from Industrial Perspective’
where he emphasized on some of the core topics which one should think of to
boost his/her career. The topic of discussion included goals setting, passion,
positive attitude, concentration, good listening and communication behaviour.
The talk was very interesting and students were happy to hear him.
Chem v/s COVID – E Poster Competition

An E-Poster competition entitling “Chem Vs COVID” was conducted by the


Biotechnology department on 24 April 2021. The Objective of the competition
was to showcase creativity in this pandemic situation and to spread COVID
awareness. 10 participants out of 22 from round 1 got qualified for round 2 which
was a live presentation where the participants presented posters using Zoom
Platform. The competition was inaugurated by Additional Director UIBT, Dr.
Gunjan Mukherjee . Mr. Dharamveer Singh (Chemistry Faculty) was the judge. An
amazing interaction was observed during the live presentation, which gradually
increased the level of awareness amongst the candidates. The presenters were
well prepared and quite interactive . The 1 st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were won by Ms.
Harsimran (20BBT1261), Ms. Jasjeet Narang (19BBT1041) and Mr. Abhrajut
(19BBT1041). At the end , Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Neelam P. Negi.
New Age Genome Engineering : A Boon or Bane

An E-poster competition based on the topic “NEW AGE GENOME ENGINEERING :


A BOON OR BANE” was organized by Bio-vision Research Club, UIBT on 13th April
2021 in online mode . A total of 9 entries were submitted by both BSc and MSc
students. Dr Vipin and Dr Apurva were judges for this event. Students presented
research work in the form of poster template and every student was given 10
minutes to present and thereafter judges asked them some queries. Finally on
the basis of marks given by judges , three winners were chosen. Joint winners for
the first prize were Gursharan Kaur, Nancy, Alisha and Swati. Second prize was
won by Sanjana Bharti, Manisha and Akhilesh Kumar Nagar . Correspondingly
third prize was secured by Arpan, Abhay and Dharampal.
The MOM Event – Minutes of Meeting

The MOM - a virtual alumni Reconnect event was organized by the UIBT
department on 28 May 2021 . The event took place in the guidance of Alumni
guest Ridhima Kapoor, Prof. Gunjan Mukherjee and Ms Hardeep Kaur . The main
agenda of the meeting included interaction of the alumni guest with the students
for them to know more about the present role of Patent Technology , framing role
of alumni members as mentors , taking suggestions from Alumni , tips to get in
the Patent industry , techniques and skills required in the future . Overall the
event proved to be quite fascinating and interesting .
