CHOOSE YOUR ANALYSIS

We both choose Buffer Analysis which consists of two method in it . Firstly, Variation in Buffering
which is the buffer distance/ sizes does not have to be constant, vary based on value given.
Secondly, Applications of Buffering which is, buffering creates buffer zone data set.

The applications:-

a) Often treated as protection zone & used for planning/regulatory purposes

b) Act as a neutral zone & as a tool for conflict resolution.

c) Represent the inclusion zones

d) Serve as a screening devices/may become the object for analysis

e) Buffering with multiple rings- useful as a sampling method

DATA INVOLVE

- RIVER, WATER BODIES, FOREST, RESIDENTIAL, LAND USE, ARGRICULTURE, INFRASTRUCTURE,

DATA OBTAINED

Buffer analysis creates buffer polygon to a specified distance around the point, line or polygon
features. You can identify whether there are objects of interest inside or outside the zone and make
conclusions based on this analysis.

Variations in buffering

There are several variations in buffering. The buffer distance or buffer size can vary according to
numerical values provided in the vector layer attribute table for each feature. The numerical values
have to be defined in map units according to the Coordinate Reference System (CRS) used with the
data. For example, the width of a buffer zone along the banks of a river can vary depending on the
intensity of the adjacent land use.

Buffering with intact or dissolved boundaries

Buffer zones often have dissolved boundaries so that there are no overlapping areas between the
buffer zones. In some cases though, it may also be useful for boundaries of buffer zones to remain
intact, so that each buffer zone is a separate polygon and you can identify the overlapping areas.

CASE STUDY : A BUFFER ANALYSIS BASED ON CO-LOCATION ALGORITHM

LOCATION_ALGORITHM

HOW : Buffer analysis is a common tool of spatial analysis, which deals with the problem of
proximity in GIS. Buffer analysis researches the relationship between the center object and other
objects around a certain distance. Buffer analysis can make the complicated problem be more
scientifically and visually, and provide valuable information for users. Over the past decades, people
have done a lot of researches on buffer analysis. Along with the constantly improvement of spatial
analysis accuracy needed by people, people hope that the results of spatial analysis can be more
exactly express the actual situation. Due to the influence of some certain factors, the impact scope
and contact range of a geographic elements on the surrounding objects are uncertain. As all we
know, each object has its own characteristics and changing rules in the nature. They are both
independent and relative to each other. However, almost all the generational algorithms of existing
buffer analysis are based on fixed buffer distance, which do not consider the co-location relationship
among instances.
