Extraditions
431.1 PURPOSE
To establish procedures when this department is notified that another law enforcement agency
has in-custody a subject wanted on a warrant out of our department. CID shall be responsible for
the handling of all extradition requests.
431.3 PROCEDURE
The following procedure will be utilized when the CID is informed of a pending extradition from
another state.
1. Request that the holding agency advise if the wanted subject will waive extradition.
Name and telephone number of the contact person. Advise the holding agency that
we will send a certified copy of the warrant and copies of the photos and fingerprints
if available and needed.
2. If requested, KCSD will fax to the holding agency contact person a certified copy of the
warrant, current photo and fingerprints. The holding agency may prefer the documents
be sent by mail.
2. Inquire if there are any local charges which would prevent immediate pickup. Obtain
from the contact person the exact location where the arrestee is being held, to facilitate
pickup arrangements. (This often changes after a court appearance).
3. The holding agency usually requests an estimated time of arrival of the transport
officer. Advise them the transport will be handled by KCSD personnel and the KCSD
will be in direct contact with them regarding the estimated time of arrival.
