I can Break Them!
Situation: The Ist French Corps has been hammered and is trying to reform for further assaults, but there is a tremendous hole in Orders:
Napoleon’s front. In order to cover Marshall Ney decides to attack with the Heavy Cavalry to attempt to break or pierce the Anglo-Allied I Corps Defend
center. The Marshall seems to think that the Anglo-Allies are preparing to withdraw. What he actually sees is a simple redeployment that 1BritID Defend Hougomont
allows virtually all the allied units to get into square. 3BritID Defend Fm Mt St Jean

Companies from the deployed elements.

• From 15:00 to 15:50 the French player may only use the IVRC and the Guard Light Cavalry division.
• From 16:00 through the end of the 16:50 game turn the French player may use all the cavalry shown in the scenario.
Victory:
FR Decisive: Force at least 8 Allied Battalions out of Square
FR Marginal: Force at least 4 Allied Battalions out of Square
Draw: any other result
AA Marginal: No Allied Battalions have been forced out of Square
AA Decisive: No Allied Battalions have been forced out of Square and at least 8 French Squadrons are eliminated
Special:
The 2 Guard Cavalry divisions are assigned to Marshall Ney and trace command to him. These divisions move when their Leaders pass
their rating check.
The French 5ID are assumed to be just to the east of where the cavalry are charging.
Commentary:
Marshall Ney believes that he can break through the Anglo-Allied line of squares with the French Heavy Cavalry. He starts with only the
IIIrd Reserve Cavalry Corps of about 3,500 troopers and cannot. He calls for the additional troopers of the IVth Reserve Cavalry Corps,
now numbering 3500 horse, for a total of 7,000 and still fails. He then grabs the Imperial Guard Cavalry and with this 9,000 horse he
knows the Allies will fall apart. But they still don’t break, not a single square falls or breaks.
The French Heavy Cavalry is now spent and can provide little in the way of support to the French infantry preparing to move on La Haye
Saint. The Marshall has now blown the best chance of winning the battle.
The Fate of the empire rides with you! Do not return without glory!
