Implementation
Learning Context
Feelings: A character has both physical and emotional feelings, evidenced by the words
and actions of the character. T will review some pre-selected examples from text.
Procedure
Direct Instruction
b. Guided Practice: T will kick off a conversation by asking how the main character
felt at the beginning of the chapter, asking for text evidence to support. T will
direct the Ss to converse in their groups, finding and sharing feelings/evidence.
c. Check for Understanding: T will ask Ss to provide an example that a group gave
along with the evidence. (Tell what someone else said.) The T will ask the Ss to
put themselves in the character’s place and imagine how he/she would feel.

Independent practice: Read and comment on Kidblog post: When Brian woke up after
the plane crash, he was very dazed and sore. He crawled from the place he "landed"
and passed out against a tree. Describe what you might be feeling physically and
emotionally if you, like Brian, survived a plane crash. What is the first thing that would
come into your mind? Write a brief paragraph of about 4 sentences.
Differentiated Instruction: Any S who struggles to use the technology may opt to use
paper/pencil or contribute verbally. S may also work independently or in pairs or small
groups. All online contributions are tracked by Kidblog and the T.
