low-class workers get paid more. To some people, they may think that the middle class and low-
class workers' salaries should be increased. However, in my opinion, I strongly agree that the
salary that a person gets should depend on how hard and how well they do their work.
A big salary is very important. As we all know, money is almost everything. From the
very first day we were born until the very last day, we need money to survive. An enormous
amount of salary helps your life to be more comfortable. You can spend what you have earned to
ease your life, whether it's a medical need or tuition fees. If you have enough salary, those would
However, I believed that in order to gain more salary, you need to earn it by doing hard
work. Otherwise, there’s no reason for giving someone a high salary. In this case that we are
looking into the situation of occupation of wall street protest, most of the middle class and low-
class workers think they deserved more salary. According to many articles, the protesters said
that a gigantic amount of money goes all to the government alone, and that shouldn’t be the case.
They believed that the money shouldn’t go all towards the high class nor the government. They
have a right to earn that money too, why does only 1 percent of the people have an opportunity to
get it while the other 99 percent is ignored. From this point, I am not trying to say that I don’t
agree with them, but in my perspective, I just think that before they demand the rise of the
minimum wage, the increase of salary, or even earn something from the government, they should
take into consideration the reason of why should they gave it to you and the effect that will come
involved. Nevertheless, those who are ambitious and diligent have every right to gain a higher
salary.
In addition, not only does the protest include income inequality, but it also has color and
race involved. Occupy wall street is considered to be a majority white space, and it's something
that socialism and the left have not been able to shake. That’s not to say there are no colored
people who are the leaders of the movement, but there are still some divisions and classes among
those politics. Altogether, there are so many types of inequality, whether it’s an income or race,
yet it is of note that racism seems to be a part of every protest, even in an occupy. Racism has
been going on since the very beginning, and it somehow still happens in the present day.
Likewise, if you read the news, you would have noticed that right now there has been another
racism protest happening all across the world, mainly in America. Nonetheless this is not a very
good time to do a protest due to the Covid-19 pandemic, still the protesters are fighting so hard
for this unequal right to finally end once and for all.
For me, I’ve only seen one protest in Thailand, which was the red shirt protest in 2010.
As far as i’m concerned, there was yet to be an income inequality protest nor racism protest
going on in Thailand. However, it doesn’t mean that those don't occur in Thailand, in my life, I
have seen and experienced some of that inequality so many times. Thailand is considered to be
one of the world’s most unequal countries, in which the country has a wide gap between rich and
poor, and it is only getting wider since the recession from Covid-19. Besides, if you were to
compare the gap of income between rich and poor between Thailand and the United State, it is
certain that Thailand has a much wider gap. To be more specific, the minimum wage in Thailand
is 345 baht per day, whereas the United State minimum wage is 232 baht per hour or 5568 baht
per day. That’s almost 16 times greater than minimum wage in Thailand. Apart from this,
Racism has been a part in Thai native mindset for a long time, and people seem to ignore it and
think that it is normal. For a foreigner, they may think that Thailand isn’t a country of racism,
unfortunately, in my point of view Thai native especially teens have a lot of racism. Since I was
learning in an international school for quite sometimes, I met a lot of teachers including African-
Ameican teacher. That was the time I knew how racist Thai teens were, instead of calling their
names, they chose to call them “ai dum” which literally means black people in an inappropriate
term. As well as that, the others choose to laugh at the joke rather than telling those to stop. This
not only shows how racist Thai teens are, but it also shows how careless and disregardless thai
