Construction 5.1 Individual parts from W1 and W2 (Except corrosion-resistant steel) Surface finish grade 2 Strip as per the choice of the manufacturer, hot-dip zinc-coated according to DIN EN 10142, coating thickness 15 jum or galvanic zinc-coated according to DIN 50961, coating, thickness min, 8 um; remaining parts galvanic zinc-coated according to DIN 50961 with coating thickness of min. 8 um. VY Surface finish grade 3: Strip and casing as per the choice of the manufacturer, coated with aluminium-zinc (AZ) according to DIN EN 10215, coating thickness 15 jum; remaining parts galvanic zinc~ coated according to DIN 50961 with a coating thickness of min, 8 um. Coating systems, process group and post-treatment as per the choice of the manufacturer. In case of galvanic zinc coatings, deviations in coating thickness must be indicated in the CF specification according to DIN 50961. Other surface protection as per mutual agreement. Strip edges without surface protection are permissible. 5.2 Individual parts made of corrosion resistant steel blank (rough, without coating) $3 Strip and casing The longitudinal edges of the strip must be rounded or flanged, sharp edges must be avoided to a large extent, the inner side of the hose clamp must not have any sharp edges. Perforated or slotted strips must be covered with a cover on the hose, which (covet) must not be lost. Strips stamped on one side is permissible. 5.4 Shape of the head of the worm gear screw = Incase of material W1 and W2: Hexagonal, slotted and combicross-slotted - In case of material W3, W4 and WS: Hexagonal, only slotted = In case of strip width (b1) of 5 mm, slotted cheese head or cross-slotted hexagonal head. 6 Technical delivery conditions According to DIN 3017-4 Compliance with the specifications of this standard must be confirmed by the manufacturer through a work certificate according to DIN EN 10204. If required, the user may demand proof of compliance with the specifications of this standard through DIN test and monitoring code (this code is given by the Deutschen Gesellschaft fiir ‘Warenkennzeichnung DGWK [ = German Association for Product Identification] 7 Marking (Identification) : ‘The hose clamp must be marked on the strip permanently with: © the clamping size * in case of corrosion-resistant steel, the material code as per para 4 (In case of clamps with clamping range “above 8 up to 12” and “above 10 upto 16”; for perforated stamped strips, the data of clamping range can be absent, if there is no place available for it) the name or code of the manufacturer or supplier. The conformance of the hose clamp with this standard must be explicitly indicated by the manufacturer or the supplier through the marking of the standard number “DIN 3017”, but only together with the name or the code of the manufacturer or the supplier. The type of identification is let to the discretion of the manufacturer or the supplier. However, it must be taken care that the surface protection is not damaged, Appendix A (for information) Explanations On account of further development of the hose clamps and recent market demands, the strip widths of 5 mm and 7.5 mm were included. In case of clamps with strip width of 7.5 mm, due to the transmission of a lower torque, the worm gear head was reduced to the width across flats of 6 mm and in case of the strip width of 5 mm cheese head was used The width across flats of 5.5 mm according to DIN ISO 272 (with corresponding slot dimensions) is based on hexagonal head screws and nuts; due to different force transmission in the worm gear, an acceptance was not possible. The classification into “light series” and “heavy series” was deleted, as in the interest of a larger varieties in the specification, the strip width must be indicated as differentiating feature. Due to manufacturing reasons, the hexagonal head cannot be provided with cross-slot but only with simple slot in case of materials W3, W4 and WS. The weights cannot be indicated due to scatter dictated by manufacturing conditions; this must be enquired with the manufacturer.
