• The Head of the Organization unit to which
the x-ray unit is assigned shall ensure that
only those individuals who are qualified use
the x-ray unit

• The unit is maintained in a manner that is in


compliance with the safety requirements.

• Anyone who wishes to work with radiation-


producing equipment have a thorough
understanding of regulations and hazards
associated with the use of ionizing radiation
Users authorized to operate the unit shall
be trained in the following topics.
-Hazards of exposure to x-rays radiation
-General methods to minimize the
radiation exposure
-Protective devices incorporated into the
x-ray unit to minimize or prevent
radiation exposures.
-Proper operating procedure of the x-ray
unit
-How to recognize failures of protection
system or other unusual conditions
which could lead to radiation exposure

Operating Procedures

The engineered protection system
shall include:
✓Interlocks shall be tested at least annually or ANA

✓ A warning light adequate to warn anyone present in the


room that x-rays are being produced shall be present .
This light shall be labeled as to its meanings

produces x-rays when energized – to be operated only
by qualified personnel,” or the equivalent
