Central valve, description

The central valve distributes pressure and flow to the steering, brake, servo and working
hydraulics systems.
The central valve is located on the inside of the rear frame on the right under the cab. The central
valve is used for adjusting brake pressure, steering pressure and servo pressure.
Components mounted on the central valve:
Pressure check connection for servo pressure, port PR.
Pressure reducing valve.
Brake charging valve, MA502.
Central valve, constituent components
Priority valve. Gives priority to steering over brake, servo and working hydraulics systems in
that the LS pressure from the steering valve acts on the rear of the priority valve together
with the spring.
Pilot controlled pressure reducing valve for steering. Closes the flow to the steering valve
at maximum steering pressure.
Pilot valve for maximum steering pressure.
Pressure-reducing spool for servo pressure.
Non-return valve. Prevents servo pressure from dropping if pump pressure falls off
momentarily. (Occurs when several functions are operated simultaneously.)
Pressure-reducing spool for maximum brake pressure.
Non-return valve. Maintains brake pressure in the brake circuit and for the attachment lock
when the hydraulic pump is unloaded.
Brake charging valve MA502. Obtains feed from brake charging sensor SE 504 or when the
engine is started (ignition switch in position 3). When MA 502 is activated the LS signal is
cut off.
Maximum pump pressure during brake charging is reduced by means of the pressure-
reducing valve to 16.5 MPa (165 bar) (2392.5 psi), thus ensuring brake charging with the
engine running at idling speed.
Without reduction of the LS signal during brake charging the pump pressure would rise to
a level determined by the pressure regulator, 26 MPa (260 bar) (3770 psi). 26 MPa and a
large flow can cause the engine to stop due to the power demand at idling speed.
Pressure-reducing valve. Reduces the LS pressure up to MA 502.
Shuttle valves. Always select the highest LS pressure and direct it to the hydraulic pump’s
flow compensator.
