PRODUCT IDEA: “Portable Printer Robot (PPRB)”

NEED

According to the study made by Cattaneo, et al. (2016), a more manageable

instructional time on school requirements help to improve a student’s performance.
From the article the longer the time allotted for a school requirement which may be
inside or outside the classroom gave an individual enough space to learn and do the
assigned task proficiently. Factors like activities in school, home, and a student’s leisure
was also taken into considerations. An article made by Himmelsbach (2019) discussed
how the integration of technology affect a student in performing in school. In the paper,
most students were exposed to the screens of their gadgets. It is said that most of the
time spend in front of the screen was due to personal leisure in comparison to studying
online materials prepared by an educational institution. This resulted to a decline in
school performance and poor time management. Lastly, Barshay (2019) said in his
paper that despite the technological advantage on using gadgets to study, students
performed better when they read on paper than on screens. It is said that it helped an
individual to be focused when a subject is on paper rather than approached in the
screen of a gadget.

From these articles we proposed the need for a “Portable Printer Robot” or PPRB
in order to: help the student to reduce the time they needed to work on a certain task in
school, draw the student’s exposure to gadgets more into doing school materials, and
give the ability to the students to have a paper-based learning at their own accessibility.
PPRB, a portable printer, that can help a student to print their lessons at a real time
speed without the need to create a separate file before printing which greatly reduces
the time and effort which can be allotted to other school task. Using the technology
available nowadays, PPRB is integrated to an individual’s phone via an application that
enable the feature to set preferences of the subject to be printed. PPRB can make the
school materials to be available on paper at the student’s decision which based from the
study cited, help a student to perform better than when it is delivered on a screen.
PPRB offers efficiency on time, ease of access, and an opportunity to perform better in
school to the students using the product.

APPROACH

The product is primarily designed for the benefit of the students in writing down
notes. It is Bluetooth equipped. It is capable of scanning using laser scanner and
printing at the same time on a blank paper. The product shall also be connected to an
app which will allow the user to control the PPRB. This is how the method will be done:

1. Connect the smartphone, laptop, or tablet to the PPRB using Bluetooth

2. Place the PPRB on a surface approximately not more than 3 meters from the board

3. Open the app on their devices, there they will see if the PPRB properly sees the
targeted portion of the board

4. If the position is right, the user my click ‘scan’

5. The PPRB will emit laser scanner

6. The PPRB will ask the user on what size of paper will it be printed using the same
app

7. Choose varieties of paper sizes on the app where this scanned file will be printed

8. After choosing, place the chosen size of paper below the printer

9. Click ‘print’

10. The PPRB will already do the printing process

 At the same time, the PPRB can also print those documents that are stored in
the phones, laptops, or tablets, for as long as these gadgets are equipped with
Bluetooth. The process of printing a stored document from a Bluetooth equipped device
is as follows:

1. Connect the smartphone, laptop, or tablet to the PPRB using Bluetooth

2. Choose the document to be printed

3. Choose the appropriate size of paper where it is to be printed

4. After choosing, place the chosen size of paper below the printer

5. The user must click ‘print’

6. The PPRB will already do the printing process

Unlike other type of portable printers which are only capable of printing stored
documents, this product is a hybrid type of portable printer which is capable of printing
stored documents in Bluetooth equipped devices (e.g. laptops, tablets, and
smartphones), as well as printing in real time. It is a 2-in-1 printer, that is very
convenient.

BENEFITS

This is an innovation in terms of portable printers. It is a portable printer that

looks like a robot seen in sci-fi movies. However, this can only be controlled using an
application. Nonetheless, this innovation will still make a great impact on how students
will take lectures in school. The biggest advantage of portable printing robot technology

being tired of writing litany of notes coming from your teacher. It is a way on how we can
revolutionize traditional writing.

The product that is being proposed will also be appropriate for the corporate
setting for example if the company is having a team meeting and the presenter is writing
something in a board the PRRB can be used for scanning the items in the board which
can be distributed after the meeting is over. Another example is in the seminars or
training setting, the instructor or presenter can also use the PRRB for scanning his/her
notes on the board and disseminating if after the session. This product will be
revolutionary because it eliminates traditional way of writing notes, to employ and
maximize the effect of technology in our day to day lives.

COMPETITION
The primary different of this product against other printing devices is that it can scan
and print directly such as what are the images on the wall and on the blackboard, while
robotic printer can not do direct printing. This is a hybrid robotic printer can indirectly
with the use of smartphone. The innovative fact is that it can the portable printer robot
does not require any documents or pdf files to undergo printing. The portable printer
robot also has a software application for smart devices, where it control the portable
printer robot.
