CONCLUSION

From this experiment, we can conclude that the sand replacement test is to determine the in
situ density of natural or compacted soils using pouring cylinders. The relationship between
the dry density with known moisture content is ρd is a dry density of the soil and density of
the excavated soil, while p is a bulk density of the soil that we get from the estimation of soil
density and moisture content. The, W is a percent of the water content from the result that we
get when the sample we heated for 24 hours in the oven at 105°C to110°C that starts from
5.00 pm until 5.00 pm on the next day. So, the lowest the moisture content, the highest the
amount of dry density. There are still a few mistakes in this experiment that we should not do
and must improve. To calculate the soil density, the excavated hole we create must be
equivalent to the volume of the calibration container so we have no problem with the
measurements when doing this experiment. So, we must have the right equipment to dig the
hole correctly while doing the test. In conclusion, we can conclude that this experiment is a
success.
