APPLE BACKGROUND

Apple is a multinational technology company that develop and sells personal computers.
Apple was founded by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne in April 1976. Apple was
incorporated as Apple Computer Inc. in January 1977 and renamed Apple Inc. in January 2007
that resembles their focus towards consumer electronics.

In 1980, Apple was led by 25 years old Steve Jobs with his mission statement, “ To make a
contribution to the world by making tools for the mind that advance humankind. “ He sees Apple
products are for the advancement of mankind’s life. This is radically differs with Apple Inc.
current mission statement which is, “Apple designs Macs, the best personal computers in the
world, along with OS X, iLife , iWork and professional software. Apple leads the digital music
revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store. Apple has reinvented the mobile phone with its
revolutionary iPhone and App store, and is defining the future of mobile media and computing
devices with iPad." This means Apple products are for the purpose of the company’s existence
(Elliot, 2012).

In addition, Apple Inc. has employs 115000 employees as of July 2015 and maintains the
number of 478 retails store seventeen countries worldwide as of March 2016. Apple Inc. also
became the first company to be evaluated for a US$700 Billion company. Over one billion
products was used by consumers worldwide as of March 2016. Moreover, Apple Inc. takes
consumers personal data protection very seriously to minimize the trust issue. Your personal
data is safely stored in encrypted form (Wozniak, 2007).

There are several reasons why Apple Inc. would be the best if it matters with the choice
of your personal mobile phone or personal computers and etc. Firstly, for any product that Apple
creates, the people who create it have to want it themselves. Engineers should design
something that they would love to have it with no critics and when Jobs is still alive he himself is
the reason they have to do something very good to impress him as a real customer. Secondly,
the products have to be easy to use. They would make products that have an excellent user
interface that surely can do anything u want. Next, Apple Inc. offers great deal of customer
service and customer care for any support and any problems related to their products
(Cruikshank, 2006).

World economic factors also influence to the Human Resource of Apple Inc in the sale of the
product of apple’s. Increase in value of the American currency can make sales of apple product
slow down. This can make Apple’s Inc loss their profit. When the dollar of America weakens
this can make sure sales of apple product such as Iphone, Macbook, ipod and others increase
and give profit to their company. Apple’s needs to invest more and more in R&D as of
competitive and short product life cycle nature of industry (Apple 10-K).

Human Resources Planning, Recruit and Selection

However Human Resources of Apple Inc make a strategy by open their company at outside
United States and recruit employees at the country. Through this strategy Apple Inc can cut
their cost of input and output of their product. Meanwhile, Apple inc also can gain material and
employees that are more cheapest than at America. Lastly, apple inc can increase their quantity
and sale of their product

Rapid in technological developments to soe extent affect the human resources of apple inc.
These advances led to demand for apple’s product also increased. The number of users among
adolescents smart gadjets that many causes apple had to maximize innovation in creation of
their product. It also to realize their mission “an Apple on every desk” (Steve Job) To increase
their technology in their product apple’s must have a productive workers. Their Human
Resoursces development have make a strategy by give Compensation and benefit to every
their workers.

Human resources management of Apple’s has their strategy by give discount to their employees
on apple’s product. Each year, employees can get a 25% discount on an ipod, ipad, or
computer. Most apple software can be purchased at a 50% discount, and AppleCare comes
with a 25% discount. After 90 days on the job, employees can choose either $500 off the price
of a Mac or $250 off an iPad . Apple Inc, also give health insurance and flexible spending

account that can be used for health care or dependent day care. Apple also has their own
hospital that call as Apple hospital (Glassdor). This hospital only for their employees.

Physical Factor

Human Resource Management are always dependable in any situation, sometime even
the situation which is cannot be expected such as natural disaster. HRM are always responsible
for the rise and fall of a company, from the well being of the workers to fulfilling the needs of the
company itself. For example of physical factor is disaster that make the productivity and
employee effected. To fix the problem, HRM must making medical check up to take care of their
employee in the industry. This is because workers is also under the responsibility of the HRM
workforce. That is the main reason why HRM are always considered as the pillar of a certain
company, they must be dependable, responsible, capable, and possess a quality in order to
keep the company running.

Safety and Health

There is an incident in japan which has shown the importance of HRM workforce, this
involving a well known company Apple.Inc. In 2011 APPLE company was realease their product
iPad 2 in the the global market especially in the Japan. However in the same day a 9.0
earthquake rocks Japan, causing a huge damage and loss to the company (McNeill, 2014). The
centre of APPLE supplier building named NAND flash production also being hit causing the
operation of the company were halted due to this tragedy. This is where the HRM played their
part, the HRM workforce have checked through everything, from the loss and damage that the
company has suffer until those who are wounded in the tragedy, the HRM are responsible to fix
these internal problem by finding a new workforce, claiming their insurance (Afrouz, 2012).

Technology Factor

Apple's Product Development Process may be one of the most successful design process ever
implemented. With the company verging on becoming the world's first $ 1 trillion business
organization (Leander Kahney 2013). The development technology used by Apple’s in
production was affect product development and improve the product in terms of quality and
quantity.

Employee and labor relations

Apple technological advances resulting in increased efficiency, accuracy and increased worker
productivity. To ensure a constantly evolving labor productivity, relations with employee should
be built. When productivity of employees increase, Human resources mangement of Apple’s will
give awards to employees. For example, every December, Apple provides its retail employees
around the world with a special holiday gift to thank them for their contributions to the company
and to celebrate the holiday season. Their award like this from Apple inc, the relationship can be
established with an employee

Political Factor

The political stability of the United States, the well-developed infrastructure in the United States,
high U.S. tariffs, the relative size and growth potential of the U.S. market, and the attitude of
U.S. trade unions have been the driving force behind FDI in the United States (Sarkis J. Khoury
2002). Many of the revolutionary technologies that make the iPhone and other products and
services “smart” were funded by the U.S. government. It also received its early stage finance
from the U.S. government’s Small Business Investment Company program. For example,
finance, infrastructure, regulation and taxation.

Human resources development

Political stability provide an opportunity for Apple to boost their market. Apple’s need a lot of
labor to expand their market. Apple's Inc will increase the number of employees to increase
their market. When there is an increase in the number of workers, Human resources
mangement of Apple’s need to build human resource development. Human resources
mangement of Apple’s build human resource development for the welfare of workers. For
example, Apple nominated in the Workforce 100 recognizes companies that excel in various
areas of human resources during the course of the previous year. To determine which
companies make the list, Workforce editors work with researchers from the Human Capital

In every company, human resource management plays a vital role in providing a


conducive working atmosphere and introduce a productive working culture to drive excellent
performance from each workers. Each aspects including recruitment and training. Hiring the
right kind of people into your organization should come up with strategies and proper job
description. Next, human resource managers should encourage their workers to work by
providing a complete guideline to their work and motivate them to work by setting goals to
achieve. Moreover, in maintaining work atmosphere human resource managers should provide
a clean, safe and healthy working conditions to drive the best performance in workers. Besides,
we all know that conflicts is inevitable and it may happen. So, human resource manager should
try to solve these problems brilliantly. Furthermore, all these criteria is an important thing every
human resource management in any company should look up to. Thus, human resource
managements need to professionally handle any problems related to their workers and working
conditions regardless of the circumstances.
