1.1 SCOPE
Supplier shall furnish all geotextile, labor, incidental materials, tools, supervision, transportation,
and installation equipment necessary for the supply and installation of geotextile, as specified
herein, and as shown on the drawings.
1.2 SUBMITTALS
A. Prior to material delivery to project site, the contractor shall provide the engineer
with a written certification or manufacturers quality control data which displays
that the geotextile meets or exceeds minimum average roll values (MARV)
specified herein.
1.3 QUALIFICATIONS
A. MANUFACTURER
1. Geotextile shall be manufactured and supplied either directly by any of the
listed approved manufacturers hereunder or through the Authorised
Distributor of the given manufacturers.
2. The Authorised Distributor must provide project specific authorisation
certificate from the manufacturer, confirming and certifying
authorisation for supplying and installing geotextiles for Ash Pond
Lining in Bakreshwar Thermal Power Project of the West Bengal Power
Development Corporation Ltd.
3. The approved manufacturers/suppliers of Geomembrane Liners are:
Terram Ltd.
Carthage Mills
4. MANUFACTURER shall have manufactured a minimum of 10,000,000
square feet of polyethylene geomembrane during the last year.
5. Manufacturer must have at least 20 years presence in the international market.
B. INSTALLER
1. Installation shall be performed only by the Authorised Installer of the
manufacturer.
2. The Authorised Installer must provide project specific authorisation
certificate from the manufacturer, confirming and certifying
authorisation for supplying and installing geomembranes for Ash Pond
Lining in Bakreshwar Thermal Power Project of the West Bengal Power
Development Corporation Ltd.

2.1 GEOTEXTILE

2.2 MANUFACTURE
All rolls of the geotextile shall be identified with permanent marking on the roll or packaging,
with the manufacturers name, product identification, roll number and roll dimensions.
2.3 TRANSPORT
3. EXECUTION
A. The engineer shall examine the geotextile rolls upon delivery to the site and
report any deviations from project specifications to the contractor.

B. The engineer may decide to arrange conformance testing of the rolls delivered to
the job site. For this purpose, the engineer shall take a sample three feet (along
roll length) by roll width according to ASTM Practice D 4354 The sample shall
be properly marked, wrapped and sent to an independent laboratory for
conformance testing.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. The geotextile shall be handled in such a manner as to ensure that it is not damaged
in any way. Should the contractor damage the geotextile to the extent that it is no
longer usable as determined by these specifications or by the engineer, the
contractor shall replace the geotextile at his own cost.
B. The geotextile shall be installed to the lines and grades as shown on the contract
drawings and as described herein.
C. The geotextile shall be rolled down the slope in such a manner as to continuously
keep the geotextile in tension by self weight. The geotextile shall be securely
anchored in an anchor trench where applicable, or by other approved or specified
methods.
F. During placement of the geotextile, care shall be taken not to entrap soil, stones or
excessive moisture that could hamper subsequent seaming of the geotextile as
judged by the engineer.
G. The geotextile shall not be exposed to precipitation prior to being installed and shall
not be exposed to direct Sun light for more than 15 days after installation.
H. The contractor shall not use heavy equipment to traffic above the geotextile without
approved protection.
I. The geotextile shall be covered as soon as possible after installation and approval.
Installed geotextile shall not be left exposed for more than 15 days.
A. Payment for geotextile supply and installation will be as per contract unit price per
square meter, as measured parallel to geotextile surface, including designed anchor
trench material and is based upon net laid area.
B. Net laid area is defined to be the true area of all surfaces to be lined plus designed
burial in all anchor trenches, rubsheets, and sacrificial layers.
C. Prices shall include full compensation for furnishing all labor, material, tools,
equipment, and incidentals.
D. Prices also include doing all the work involved in performing geotextile installation
completely as shown on the drawing, as specified herein, and as directed by the
ENGINEER.
