According to Henry Mintzberg (1994), " Strategy is a plan, a "how," a means of getting from

here to there." I have come to realise that by implementing strategies in my daily life I tend to get
things done on time and in an efficient way. I am a Sales person, strategies help me to achieve
my goals by reading books that are in line with Sales, books that grow me and make me a better
sales person. I tend to under promise and over deliver, this strategy has really helped many
people trust my business dealings. I start my day very early, I exercise so that I keep my energy
level on high. In my work place I always research more about my target market by doing cold
calls as a strategy of selling. Another strategy I use at work is after sales call i.e. when I have
sold and closed a sale I keep in touch with the customer to make sure that they are content. My
mentor made me realise that account management is a great strategy in sales. A mentor who
guides and keeps me in check is another strategy that use.

After reading online i understand the difference between these 2 strategies is that deliberate
strategies are planned actions whereas emergent strategies is doing what works at that time.
There are times when my deliberate strategies tend not to work, I enforce emergent strategies to
help me move forward as I am not a rigid person. Mintzberg and Waters also note that, “not a
few deliberate strategies are simply emergent ones that have been uncovered and subsequently
formalized.”
