Cornering Light Retrofit
BMW 3 Series (E 90, E 91)

These installation instructions apply to cars built before 09/98 only.

Retrofit kit No. 63 13 414 592 Cornering light retrofit

Installation time
The installation time is approx. 2.0 hours. This may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment
in it. The installation time will increase by approx. 0.5 hours for cars without fog lights.

Important information
These installation instructions are primarily designed for use within the BMW dealership organisation and by
authorised BMW service companies.
In any event, the target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on BMW cars with
the appropriate specialist knowledge.
All work must be completed using the latest BMW repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and work
instructions, in a rational order, using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health and safety
regulations.
If you experience installation or function problems, limit troubleshooting to approx. 0.5 hours for
mechanical or 1.0 hour for electrical work.
In order to reduce costs and avoid any additional expense, send a query immediately to the Technical Parts Support
via the Aftersales Assistance Portal (ASAP).
Specify the following information:
- Chassis number
- Part number of the retrofit kit
- A precise description of the problem
- Work steps already carried out
Do not archive the hard copy of these installation instructions since daily updates are made by ASAP!

Installation information
Ensure that the cables and/or lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car. The costs thereby
incurred will not be reimbursed by BMW AG.
Additional cables/lines that you install must be secured with cable ties.
If the specified PIN chambers are occupied, bridges, double crimps or twin-lead terminals must be used.
All pictures show LHD cars; proceed accordingly on RHD cars.

Ordering instructions
The following parts are not supplied in the cornering light retrofit kit and must be ordered separately
(see EPC for part number and details).
- Fog light cable kit B (cars without SA 520 only)
- Light control unit G (cars without SA 520 only)

7. To install the cornering light

Cars without SA 520 only

Retain screws, are required to install the fog light
holders C and D.
2 Unscrew the fog light cover (1) from the bumper trim (2).

All cars
2 Insert the fog light cover E.
Using a suitable pencil (2), trace the outline of the fog light
cover E on the bumper trim (1) top and bottom.

Remove the fog light cover E.

E Using a suitable tool, cut out the marked spot in the
bumper trim (1) top and bottom.

7. To install the cornering light

Insert the fog light cover E in the bumper trim (1).

Secure the fog light C using Torxs screw K to the fog light
C E cover E and use self-tapping screws (1) to secure it to the
1 bumper.

Disconnect the cables from the plug (1) and connect

them in the same configuration to the socket casing L.

Connect socket casing L to fog light C.

8. To install the cable kit for fog lights (cars without SA 520 only)

Route fog light cable kit B along the original wiring

B5-B6 harness as follows:
- Branches B1 and B4 to the fog lights
B3 X166 X165 B2
- Branch B3 to the earth bolt of joint connector X166
and screw into place there
- Branch B2 to the earth bolt of joint connector X165
and screw into place there

B4 - Branches B5 and B6 to the left bulkhead

the interior.

Connect branch A9, BL 18-pin socket casing,

A8 to the plug (1) of Universal Interface H.
Clip the plug (1) of Universal Interface H to branch A8.

A6-A7 A4-A5 Unpin and separate socket contact from plug X14261,
51-pin. SW, PIN 1. Crimp socket contact P and pin into
I P socket casing N.

Pin branch A4 to PIN 1.
Unpin and separate socket contact from plug X14261,
51-pin. SW, PIN 33. Crimp pin contact Q and pin into pin
casing O.

10. Concluding work and coding

This retrofit system does not require coding.

- Connect the battery
- Conduct a brief test
- Conduct a function test
- Re-assemble the car
